Today we’d like to introduce you to Kutrina Price.
Hi Kutrina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a country girl at heart who loves to serve her community. In 2010, I went through a divorce that left my heart bitter, angry, and full of rage and unforgiveness. I decided to relocate back to my small town, which had a population of 1,254 as of 2021. In this tight-knit community, everyone knew about my divorce, and I fell into depression. However, I realized that this wasn’t the path I wanted for myself or my two children, who were growing up and becoming more aware of things.
Although I had strayed from the church, I felt the need to return to my faith. I wanted my children to have a better example. I prayed and cried out to God, asking for help in getting through my divorce and healing my heart. I was in a mess, not knowing who I was, whose I was, or even understanding my self-worth during that time. I became the prodigal daughter and returned to the church, where God strengthened me to face my challenges.
Throughout this journey, I encouraged many others who were going through difficult times while dealing with my own storm. I learned that no matter what you’re going through, you should continue to trust God, even when you can’t see His path clearly. I transformed my bitterness into a drive to become better. I developed a passion for serving in my community and learned to meet people where they are while cheering them on to achieve greatness.
I was introduced to vision boards by my best friend, Sharonda Grandberry. After numerous reminders to create a vision board, I finally gave it a try and ended up embracing it. I now look back and giggle at how I resisted it, similar to how Sarah in the Bible laughed when she was told she would bear a son at the age of 90 (Genesis 17:17). All it took was buying one magazine to get started. This journey led me to host my first Vision board party on December 16, 2016. It also opened up opportunities for me to travel to Florida, Virginia, and various places in my community and surrounding counties to share the power of vision boards.
I am now the founder of HOPE: (Helping One Person Every Day), which is a non-profit that aims to promote positive changes in the lives of community members. Our mission is to inspire and motivate our community, with a strong emphasis on the youth. HOPE dedicates time to helping others cultivate and achieve their goals through productive outlets like prayer, vision boards, and counseling.
I am thankful for finding my way back to Jesus Christ because my 23-year-old daughter and 16-year-old son have witnessed my transformation from falling into depression to standing strong in my faith in God. It doesn’t mean that tests and trials won’t come, but I now know how to transfer them from my hands to the Lord and let Him fight the battles for me and my family.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Living in a small town often means having limited event venues and spaces available for hosting gatherings and activities. This can be a significant obstacle when trying to organize community events, workshops, or meetings. This requires being creative and flexible in finding suitable spaces. Another obstacle I encountered is the occasional self-doubt that arises regarding whether people might grow weary of the topic of vision boards. This challenge revolves around my concern that my community members may reach a point of saturation when it comes to discussions about vision boards. While the key topic stays the same (Keep the faith and believe in God), it’s essential for me to maintain a fresh and engaging approach to keep their interest piqued, ensuring that the concept remains intriguing and relevant to them over time. In essence, the challenge lies in continually finding new ways to present the topic and connect it with the evolving needs and aspirations of my audience.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I really enjoy gardening, It’s like having a quiet conversation with God while I’m there. It feels peaceful and makes me think about how faith is a lot like gardening. You put in a lot of effort and time, and eventually, you see the beautiful results.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters to me most is that God is glorified through the things that I do. It’s not about me. My focus isn’t on personal recognition or achievements; rather, it’s on being a willing and bold vessel for Christ while encouraging others. I find great fulfillment and purpose in serving others, viewing it as a genuine blessing. It’s through these acts of service and encouragement that I aim to reflect the love, compassion, and grace of God in my daily life, making a positive impact on the lives of those I encounter.
