Today we’d like to introduce you to LaTasha Scott.
Hi LaTasha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My entrepreneurial journey began more than 20 years ago with a passion for bringing people together through food, hospitality, and memorable experiences. As the owner of Promised Land Foods & Catering, I started with a vision of creating exceptional culinary experiences while serving my community with excellence and hospitality.
Over the years, I have grown the business from a small catering operation into a multifaceted hospitality company that includes catering, event production, and specialty desserts through GG’s Cakes. Along the way, I learned how to navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship, build strong relationships, and continuously adapt to the evolving needs of my clients.
Today, I also lead LC Hospitality Group, where I produce signature events such as Bourbon & Bonfire and The Purple Glass Dinner Series. These experiences are designed to celebrate culture, connection, fine food, and premium beverages. In addition to running my businesses, I am a Culinary Arts educator, helping to prepare the next generation of hospitality professionals.
As a single mother, business owner, educator, and community leader, my journey has been built on faith, perseverance, and a commitment to creating opportunities for others. What started as a love for food has evolved into a platform that allows me to inspire, educate, and bring people together through meaningful experiences. I am proud of how far I’ve come and excited about the continued growth and impact of my businesses.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it definitely has not been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced my share of challenges throughout the journey. Building and sustaining a business for more than 20 years has required resilience, adaptability, and a strong commitment to my vision.
One of the biggest challenges has been balancing the demands of entrepreneurship while raising my daughter. There were times when I had to wear multiple hats; business owner, educator, mother, event planner, marketer, and accountant all at the same time. Managing cash flow, navigating economic downturns, recovering from the impact of the pandemic, and finding ways to scale with limited resources have all presented obstacles along the way.
I’ve also learned that growth often comes with setbacks. There have been events that didn’t go as planned, opportunities that fell through, and moments when I questioned whether I should continue. However, each challenge taught me valuable lessons about leadership, perseverance, and the importance of building strong relationships.
What has kept me moving forward is my passion for hospitality, my faith, and my desire to create meaningful experiences for others. Every obstacle has helped shape the business owner and leader I am today. Looking back, I realize that the struggles were not roadblocks, they were stepping stones that helped me build a stronger business and a stronger version of myself.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m the owner of Promised Land Foods & Catering, GG’s Cakes, and LC Hospitality Group. For more than 20 years, I’ve been creating memorable experiences through great food, hospitality, and events.
Food has always been at the center of everything I do. I believe that great food brings people together, creates conversation, and leaves a lasting impression. Whether I’m catering a wedding, corporate event, private dinner, or producing one of my signature experiences like The Purple Glass Dinner Series or Bourbon & Bonfire, I focus on delivering both exceptional food and an unforgettable guest experience.
I’m also proud to be known as the home of the Sweet Potato Bourbon Pound Cake, one of our signature creations through GG’s Cakes. It has become a customer favorite and represents the creativity, quality, and Southern-inspired flavors that our brand is known for.
What I’m most proud of is building businesses that have allowed me to share my passion for food while creating meaningful experiences for others. As a mother, entrepreneur, and educator, I’ve worked hard to turn my love of hospitality into something that brings joy to people and opportunities to my community.
What sets me apart is my belief that food and hospitality go hand in hand. Anyone can serve a meal, but I strive to create an experience. One where guests feel welcomed, valued, and connected. When people attend one of my events or enjoy one of my desserts, I want them to leave with more than just a full stomach; I want them to leave with a lasting memory.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5–10 years, I see the hospitality and catering industry becoming even more experience-driven and highly personalized. Food will always be the foundation, but what people are really looking for now and even more in the future is connection, storytelling, and curated experiences.
I think we’ll continue to see a shift toward intimate, themed, and immersive events instead of traditional large-scale gatherings. Guests want something that feels intentional and memorable, not just an event they attend. That’s already shaping how I design experiences like The Purple Glass Dinner Series and Bourbon & Bonfire.
Technology will also play a bigger role, especially in how people book, customize, and engage with events. But even with that growth, I believe the human element will become more valuable, not less. People still want that personal touch, real hospitality, and authentic connection.
Another big trend is the rise of local, chef-driven brands and boutique hospitality businesses. Clients are becoming more interested in supporting creators who offer something unique, not mass-produced. That’s where I think smaller, experience-focused businesses like mine continue to stand out.
Sustainability, seasonal menus, and intentional sourcing will also keep growing in importance, along with a stronger focus on wellness and dietary awareness in menu planning.
Overall, I see the industry moving toward a blend of elevated food, storytelling, and curated guest experiences. I believe businesses that stay authentic, flexible, and experience-focused will continue to thrive.
