Today we’d like to introduce you to Rose Gold.
Hi Rose, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
From a young age, I have always been captivated by the world of professional wrestling, a dream that took root in my heart when I was only five years old. This passion became a reality when I started my training in August 2018 in the town of Morrow, Georgia. Throughout my journey in wrestling, there were many instances where I found myself as the sole woman or one of just a handful of females in the training sessions. This experience, while isolating at times, only fueled my passion for the sport. I’ve been fortunate enough to train alongside wrestling legends such as Teddy Long, Nick Patrick, and Mr. Hughes, each offering invaluable insights and mentorship that have shaped my skills and perspective.
I began my journey of participating in regular matches in 2020. However, with the world coming to a standstill during that year, I consider 2021 to be the true beginning of my wrestling career. Currently, I hone my craft with Platinum Championship Wrestling in Conyers, Georgia, where I continue to push my limits and grow as a wrestler.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey I’ve traveled over the past few years has been incredibly challenging. In 2021, I experienced the profound loss of my dad, who was not only a parent but also one of my greatest supporters. His presence at every match and his encouragement during my practice and gym sessions were invaluable to me. As a queer black woman navigating a predominantly white, male-dominated industry, I have faced numerous obstacles along the way. The industry is still not very kind to women, and I have encountered many issues with men trying to take advantage of me or speak down to me because I am a woman. Despite these challenges, I strive to embrace my identity and carve out my own space in this field, making the most of every opportunity that comes my way.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As a professional wrestler, I am deeply proud of the journey I’ve embarked on in this exhilarating sport. Over the years, I have traveled extensively throughout the Southeast, facing a diverse array of challengers who have tested my skills and determination. Recently, I have sharpened my focus on developing a powerhouse and striking style, which combines raw strength with explosive striking techniques. Currently, I find myself immersed in a series of dynamic and compelling storylines with various wrestling promotions across Georgia, each one adding a new layer of excitement and challenge to my career. The energy of the ring and the electric atmosphere of the crowds only fuel my passion further as I strive to leave my mark in the wrestling world.
One of my most significant accomplishments is being named the 2023 Female Performer of the Year for the state of Georgia, a recognition that truly highlights my dedication and hard work.
What I cherish most is the progress I’ve made over time; my growth in skills and performance is a constant source of motivation for me. Standing out in a competitive field, my height is a defining feature that sets me apart. At an impressive stature, I am proud to be self-recognized as the tallest woman in professional wrestling. I also googled I so there is some truth to my moniker. This unique aspect of my persona, combined with my vibrant and captivating personality, helps me leave a memorable impression and connect with fans and fellow wrestlers alike.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck undeniably has its part to play in this business, but the significance of hard work cannot be overstated. To truly thrive in this industry, it’s essential not only to put in the effort but also to be visible and actively engaged within the community. Building relationships and making connections can often be just as crucial as the skills you bring to the table. the right people. However, that often doesn’t happen without the presence of hard work.
In my professional journey, I have had the privilege of collaborating with a wide array of individuals, each bringing their own unique backgrounds and perspectives to the table. This diversity of personalities has enriched my experiences, allowing me to form meaningful connections. As a result, I’ve found it relatively easy to foster positive relationships with most of the people I’ve encountered in the industry, making my work not only productive but also genuinely enjoyable.
