Today we’d like to introduce you to Te’Quila Williams.
Hi Te’Quila, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m a lifestyle, travel, and beauty content creator based in Atlanta. I was born and raised in Virginia, specifically the 757 area, and relocated a little over a year ago. Atlanta has truly been a breath of fresh air for my creative, career, and personal journey. From making random videos on YouTube since middle school, high school, and even college, the love for creating has always been there. I took my passion seriously about three years ago and never looked back. What started as random fun grew into a platform where I browsed through different niches until I found my true balance all while being unapologetically me. I like to call myself the jack of all trades because I’m always wanting to try something new and keep adding to my list. I’m a social butterfly and dog mom who loves to travel and take in every view along the way. Outside of creating content I work full time as a Healthcare Analyst in the MedTech Industry. Atlanta has only amplified my vision and I’m just getting started.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road but I would not change it for anything. There were days I saw little to no growth and my previous job left me too exhausted to even pick up a camera. Even through grad school I still pushed through but batch days sometimes turned into bed days. I had a huge fear of being judged but I realized I had to find my balance and stop letting that hold me back. Brands not wanting to pay creators was a real challenge too. I started accepting gifted UGC knowing it was a start but it quickly hit me that it was not going to be my finish line. That lit a fire in me and made me extremely determined to want more for myself. I am no longer at that demanding job and have found something more peaceful and better aligned with where I am going. Seeing the fruits of my labor grow gave me the hope to keep pushing forward with faith. Philippians 4:6 and 4:13 are my favorite scriptures for a reason. Worry about nothing pray about everything and know that I can do all things through Christ. That mindset carried me and it still does.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a healthcare analyst in the MedTech Industry. Unfortunately i cannot share more about my role but I can say I’m happy to be in a role where it’s life changing for others and makes such a huge impact. It’s definitely possible for Black women to be in spaces like me. I worked extremely hard to get to where I am today!
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest advice is to just start and keep going. A low following count doesn’t mean brands won’t hit you up. A slow start does not mean no success. I wish I had stopped caring what people thought a lot sooner because the moment I let that go everything shifted. Stay authentic and never try to be anyone other than yourself because that is what people connect with. And please just post the content. You never know who is watching and who you are inspiring without even knowing it. Your consistency will always outweigh your doubt. If you told me I would meet someone really known like Jackie Aina, CoryxKenshin, RDC, and other known youtubers and high known creators I would’ve laughed !
