Today we’d like to introduce you to Verdine Devon Andrews.
Hi Verdine Devon, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Verdine Devon Andrews but best known as The Humble Lord Veezus, is the son of a Bass Player & UCT lecturer, Alistair Andrews.
His father plays the bass guitar, hence music has always been a part of Veezus’s lifestyle. He stems from a musical family where he was exposed to music from a young age and started DJ’ing in late 2010, taking breaks in between and ultimately reinventing himself in early 2016. The Humble Lord Veezus joined Good Hope FM as the new radio presenter shortly after April 2016. He believes that young people can achieve and will achieve if this is their outlook on life, as long as they stay true to themselves and not imitate or conform to what society deems as “right” or “successful”.
His wanting to take on film & acting so he has started doing a few extra work on set to learn more about movies and acting.
The Humble Lord Veezus is an inspiring and aspiring figure to the youth of South Africa and apart from being an on-air presenter for 10 years now and DJ for 15 years, he has been an ambassador for the two well-known sneaker brands, saying he loves sneakers as much as he loves charity.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Playing this game of being oneself as the job is never easy as you don’t have a boss but still have deadlines and goals to achieve…
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m more than a DJ, more than a Radio Presenter/Host but what brings me joy is seeing the next generation of talent look up to me as someone that’s being themselves and able to make it in the industry.
Any big plans?
Future plans is definitely film, acting is the next goal for me… I’ve been an extra in One Piece, Wheel Of Time & The Rats – A Witches Tale but the goal is to get a role in a DC or Marvel project.
