We recently had the chance to connect with Marc Logan and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Marc, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
When it comes to creating, I’m always stuck between jumping on and executing an idea as quickly as possible, while also having the mindset that whatever idea I have will work itself out when it’s ready. I find myself leaning more towards the latter as I grow to understand my creativity. So ultimately, I try my best not to act too fast when it comes to fleshing out my ideas and allowing whatever my creations are going to end up being, being.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
As Cosomic Hippie I strive to make diverse music that either has a message or a story for listeners to dive into or just jam out to. Along side the music I also produce my own videos, design my own clothes, and dabble in film photography. In May of this year I officially launched my own media company, Melodic Wonders, in which I plan to release all of my creations and look to add more creative individuals in the future.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mother always saw me as the star I hope to become one day. As a kid, she always supported whatever dreams I had and put both my sister and I in positions to thrive and explore our interests. I’m not making music if she hadn’t put me in piano at a young age and introduced me to so many different genres. I’m not making clothes if she didn’t always push me to have my own look and brand. I’m not the person I am today without everything I got from her.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I feel that suffering will always define someone more than success can. When everything’s good, I feel that one has the potential to become complacent and lax. With success to come the question and problem of keeping that success and continuing to evolve with it, but I find the conflicts that come with struggle more of an indicator of the character and strength of a person. In times of struggle or suffering, I’ve learned that I can overcome anything and no matter how many times life knocks me down, I’ll always get up to fight another day. Both creatively speaking and just in the day to day of life.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
Something that’s always been instilled in me from both of my parents is to truly believe in yourself and to always be yourself. As a kid we all want to fit in, no one wants to be an outcast. But with both of my parents always pushing my sister and I to be ourselves, I never minded standing out or being different. With that in mind, I never felt the need to speak on just being me because that’s all I’ve ever known to do. I always try to speak on people just being themselves, but personally I rarely speak on why it’s so easy for me to do so myself.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I feel that I am doing what I was born to do. I feel that I am who I’ve always been meant to be. Whether it’s music, storytelling, photography, etc., It’s all of the stuff that’s been in me my whole life. My creativity is the gas in my engine that gets me through the lulls of everyday life. It’s what makes me smile regardless of what the day brings.
