Meet Adrian & Shawnelle of A and S Catering Service

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrian & Shawnelle.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Absolutely! We are Chef Adrian and Chef Shawnelle, the owners of A and S Catering Service. The name “A and S” comes directly from our names, with the “A” representing Adrian and the “S” representing Shawnelle. What started as a shared passion eventually became a business built on love, faith, resilience, and family.

A and S Catering Service was established in October 2025 in the Atlanta, Georgia area, but our story began long before then. Cooking has always been a part of both of our lives. Chef Adrian grew up in Jamaica and developed a love for cooking through his experiences in hospitality and hosting community events. Chef Shawnelle has loved cooking since childhood, from making meals for family and friends to later selling desserts while attending college. Food has always been a way for us to connect with people and show love.

The decision to officially start our business came during one of the most difficult seasons of our lives. In May 2025, we experienced the heartbreaking loss of our firstborn child. As we navigated that grief, we found ourselves searching for purpose, healing, and a way to pour our energy into something positive. A few months later, we launched A and S Catering Service, turning our pain into purpose and creating something that would allow us to serve others while building a legacy for our family.

Since then, we have been blessed to serve clients throughout Atlanta and the surrounding areas. We specialize in both Jamaican and American cuisine and offer everything from brunches and weddings to corporate events and private dinners. Along the way, we’ve combined Chef Adrian’s passion for creating flavorful dishes with Chef Shawnelle’s love for cooking, event styling, and design to create experiences that are about more than just food.

Our faith remains at the center of everything we do. We truly believe that God has guided our steps and given us the strength to keep moving forward. Today, we are proud of how far we’ve come, but we’re even more excited about where we’re going. Our goal is to continue growing, serving more people, and creating memorable experiences while building a business that honors our family’s story and the legacy we hope to leave behind.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like many entrepreneurs, our journey has not always been a smooth road. Building a business comes with challenges, and we have certainly experienced our share of ups and downs along the way. One of the biggest challenges has been continuing to grow our client base and reaching more people with our services. We are passionate about what we do and are always looking for opportunities to showcase our creativity, connect with new clients, and create memorable experiences through food and event design.

However, every challenge has taught us valuable lessons about perseverance, patience, and the importance of believing in our vision. More importantly, we know that we could not have come this far without God. Throughout our personal losses, business challenges, and moments of uncertainty, our faith has been the foundation that has carried us forward. We truly believe that God has guided our journey and continues to give us the strength to overcome every obstacle we face.

One scripture that has remained close to our hearts is Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” That verse serves as a daily reminder that no challenge is too great when we place our trust in God. During difficult seasons and slower months, we lean on our faith, continue to work hard, and trust His plan for our business and our future.

We remain committed to growing A and S Catering Service, expanding our reach throughout Atlanta and beyond, and continuing to provide exceptional service to every client we have the privilege of serving. Each event, referral, and satisfied customer reminds us why we started this journey and motivates us to keep pushing forward. With faith, perseverance, and God’s grace, we look forward to continuing to serve others while building a lasting legacy through A and S Catering Service.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At A and S Catering Service, we provide breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and private catering experiences throughout Atlanta and the surrounding areas. While we are passionate about food, we believe we offer much more than a meal. Our goal is to create an experience through both our cuisine and our event design.

We specialize in American and Jamaican cuisine, bringing bold flavors, quality ingredients, and attention to detail to every event. Depending on the client’s needs, we either prepare meals on-site or cook in advance and transport the food to the venue for setup and service. Every event is unique, and we work closely with our clients to determine the best approach based on their location, vision, and preferences.

Our booking process begins with an inquiry form, which allows us to learn more about each client’s event. While we offer several packages, clients have the flexibility to curate their own menu selections. We also encourage clients to share their theme, color scheme, and overall vision so we can incorporate those details into the event setup. Whether we’re catering a wedding, birthday celebration, corporate event, brunch, or intimate gathering, we strive to ensure that every detail feels cohesive and reflects the client’s style.

One of the things that sets us apart is the creative element that Chef Shawnelle brings through event styling and tablescape design. We carefully coordinate décor, presentation, and food displays to complement the overall atmosphere of the event. Our goal is to create an experience that guests will remember long after the meal is over.

While we enjoy catering all types of events, brunches hold a special place in our hearts. We also love creating elegant dinners, cocktail-style events with hors d’oeuvres, and interactive food experiences. If it involves cooking, designing, and bringing people together, we’re excited to be a part of it.

One of our most popular offerings recently has been our Private Dinner for Two experience. More and more couples have been booking these intimate dinners for anniversaries, birthdays, date nights, and special celebrations. We transform hotel suites, homes, and other private locations into beautiful dining spaces complete with elegant tablescapes, candles, rose petals, balloons, and personalized touches.

The experience includes an appetizer, chef-prepared entrée, dessert, beverages, and a complimentary bottle of wine. We also create custom non-alcoholic drinks to make the evening even more special. Seeing couples celebrate milestones, reconnect, and create memories together has made this one of our favorite services to provide, and it continues to be one of our most requested packages.

What truly sets A and S Catering Service apart is the love and passion we bring to every event. For us, catering is much more than preparing food. It’s about creating meaningful experiences and helping our clients celebrate some of life’s most special moments.

As a husband-and-wife team, we genuinely get excited about every event we book. Having been married for just over a year, we bring that same love, partnership, and attention to detail into our business. We believe food tastes better when it’s prepared with care, and we strive to make every client feel valued, appreciated, and celebrated. Whether we are catering an intimate dinner for two or a large-scale event, we approach each occasion as if we were serving our own family and friends.

What we are most proud of, however, is our perseverance. Atlanta is a large and highly competitive market, and like any small business, there are seasons of growth as well as slower seasons. Through it all, we have remained committed to our vision and our clients. We continuously work to connect with new people, create unique menus, expand our services, and provide unforgettable experiences for every event we are trusted to be a part of.

No matter the challenges we face, we continue to push forward because we truly love what we do. Seeing our clients happy, creating lasting memories, and watching our business grow one event at a time reminds us why we started this journey in the first place. That dedication, resilience, and genuine love for serving others are what make A and S Catering Service special.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
For Chef Shawnelle, growing up was shaped by family, creativity, and a love for food. I am one of six siblings and spent my childhood between Jamaica and Florida, where my father lives, before eventually settling in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with my mother and stepfather.

From an early age, cooking became one of my greatest interests. I loved watching cooking and baking shows and was always eager to experiment in the kitchen. My parents encouraged my creativity and allowed me to prepare small meals for the family. One of my favorite childhood memories is making sandwiches for my mother and her friends. Whenever guests came over, my mother would proudly ask me to make my “famous sandwich.” While it was a simple sandwich made with bread, mayonnaise, lettuce, ham, cheese, and tomato, I loved seeing people enjoy something I created.

Also, on Friday nights, my parents would often sell food, and I would prepare meals specifically for the children. I sold fried wings, barbecue wings, and fries, while my parents sold meals for the adults. My friends would come by to purchase food from me, and their parents would purchase meals from my parents. Looking back, that was probably one of my first experiences with both entrepreneurship and serving others through food.

As I grew older, my passion continued to develop. I enjoyed watching shows like Chopped and baking competitions because I was fascinated by the creativity involved in transforming simple ingredients into memorable dishes. My entrepreneurial spirit also emerged early. While attending college, I sold homemade cake jars to earn extra income, combining my love for baking with my desire to build something of my own.

For Chef Adrian, growing up was shaped by sports, cars, hospitality, and a love for connecting with people. I am an only child and spent my childhood in Jamaica, where I developed many of the interests and personality traits that still define me today.

From a young age, I was passionate about sports and automobiles. My interest in cars motivated me to work hard and seek opportunities to earn income, which eventually led me into the hospitality industry. Through my work, I gained valuable experience interacting with people from all walks of life while developing a strong work ethic and commitment to customer service.

As I got older, I began hosting what are commonly known in Jamaica as a “fish fry,” community gatherings centered around great food, music, and bringing people together. To help promote these events, I would sell tickets to friends, family, and other employees at the hotel where I worked. Guests would come out and enjoy a variety of dishes that I prepared, including fried fish, curry goat, fried chicken, jerk chicken, and traditional Jamaican sides such as rice and peas and festival. We offered an extensive menu, and seeing customers enjoy the food and return to support future events was incredibly rewarding.

What started as an opportunity to earn extra income soon became something much more meaningful. Through preparing and serving food to others, I discovered a genuine passion for cooking and hospitality, a passion that continues to inspire me today.

Personality-wise, I have always been known for my fun-loving and jovial nature. My sense of humor earned me the nickname “Jokes” because I was constantly making people laugh and bringing positive energy wherever I went. Whether at work, with friends, or among family, I enjoyed creating an atmosphere where people felt welcomed and comfortable.

Today, those same qualities continue to shine through in A and S Catering Service. My passion for food, hospitality, and bringing people together is reflected in every event, and I take pride in helping create memorable experiences for our clients and guests alike.
