Meet Alona Herring of Yellow House Parties in Decatur

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alona Herring.

So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am the 13-year-old founder of Yellow House Parties. Since I was ten years old, I dreamt of creating a fun place where us girls can celebrate being girls!

My greatest memories were when my mom would have girls’ night for me and my little cousin. She would polish our nails, get us dressed in costumes for our fashion show and sing karaoke. I thought about how cool it would be for other girls to receive this experience in a place that’s made just for us!

I told my idea to my Mom and for three years, we worked really hard cultivating it to make my dream a reality.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest challenge for me was coming out of my comfort zone. I recently dressed up as a princess character for a spa party we hosted and as an introvert, I was extremely shy. I had to challenge myself to break out of my shell and do what’s not naturally comfortable for me in order for our guest to have a good time.

Yellow House Parties is Atlanta’s premier Kids’ Spa and Birthday Party destination. We offer all-inclusive private Spa Parties and Sip & Paint Parties for girls 3-14.

We are most proud as a company for the opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge young girls! It’s imperative to us that every girl who visits Yellow House Parties leaves feeling worthy, important and loved!

We believe what sets all business’ apart from one another is their purpose. And for us, our purpose is to entertain, empower and educate young girls!

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Faith is the most important characteristic that attributes to us being successful. It’s so easy to get discouraged and we wouldn’t have made it this far if it wasn’t for God’s Grace.
