Meet Amber Brown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Brown.

Amber, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I originally seen this ad on Instagram one night, saying that they were looking for interns for 94.5 radio station, so I put in my application, and it got accepted! Working at 94.5 taught me a lot! There, I learned my voice, how to build a credible story, and most importantly, how to work hard for what I want! After interning for 94.5 I then went to 107.9 radio station and started interning for the Durrty Boyz! There with J Nicks and Et were on me about taking my craft serious if I wanted to be a radio announcer! So that’s when I found my voice in sports, but back then, sports wasn’t popping as much as it is now! I did a couple of segments on sports but then stopped eventually because I didn’t know how to make it hip and fun! So, once again, I stopped! And eventually stopped interning for 107.9 and one day I came up with a bright idea to interview rappers! And since I knew so many rappers, I figured this would go bigger than big! I interviewed my first rapper, and it was history. From there, I started doing interviews in 2016 podcast style but once again stopped because podcasts weren’t really hipped like they are now! I had the vision but didn’t have the wisdom to make it go colossal! So, I stopped, and it wasn’t till after I had my daughter in 2020 that a light bulb went off! It was like no one was talking about sports the way you do, and you know a lot of athletes, so talk about sports, make it funny and your own, and this time, don’t take your foot off the gas! That’s honestly how I got where I am today! Trial and era!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road! I had to find my way and kick open every door! The game is really male-dominated, so women have to work ten times harder than men! I lost a lot of people along the way, almost lost my life along the way! I went through a bad breakup with my child’s father, lost it all, and went after it all again to make myself who I am today! If it wasn’t for God, my daughter, and my parents, I don’t know if I would’ve made it this far! A weak mind would’ve been gave up on life! But I have a strong determination! With the strength of God, I can conquer anything!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
So, professionally, I have my own business! Where I am the Voice of Sports! My business is called “Let’s Talk Sports with AB,” so I talk about sports in my own way; however, I feel that’s what I end up talking about, no filter! I specialize in sports announcing, giving my true opinion on sports! I’m known for doing interviews! I am most proud of how far I’ve come and the fact that no matter what came my way I never ever gave up on my dreams! What sets me apart from others is my DETERMINATION! I don’t take no for an answer! If I hear no, I’ll just create my own lane and make it happen by all means! I feel like if you tell me I can’t, ima just show you a thousand ways I can!

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love about my city is the atmosphere! Like you never meet a stranger in Atlanta! It’s always a vibe at every restaurant or club you go to! What I least like about Atlanta is the crime! We are constantly hurting and taking from one another! We gotta do better as a city! Atlanta didn’t used to be like this! But I’m always praying that my city will get back together! Because it’s a really nice place to live besides the b.s.!
