Today we’d like to introduce you to Amie Hebert.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Amie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have been in the hair industry for over 10 years. I was always creative with hair and love making other feel good about themselves. I got into the field a little blind to what this field was going to become. I started as a way to support my child and I and having a very laid back schedule. Being a single mom was hard having a typical 9-5 job but the hair industry has flexible hours. I worked at a chain salon until I felt I was a big fish in a little pond but when I looked into other ponds(salons) I felt like a minnow. I finally took the leap and worked at another salon for a year until I realized how much the salon was holding me back from my potential. In September 2016 I signed my lease and created Ignite Hair Studio. I look back at when I started and how far I have come and blown away because I NEVER imagined I would be where I am today. There are still other aspects of my trade I would love to get into but one step at a time.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I had struggles starting out. Being a single parent does cause some obstacles in this field. I felt I would take 1 step forward and then 2 steps back. My kid would be sick or needed surgery and I had to be there for her which made my job give me little to no hours or let me go. I had been on a good path about 6 years ago and was head hunted by an awesome very well known salon. I decided that this is an awesome opportunity and I was flattered. I took the job. Little did I know the job wasn’t a good fit for me, they had hardly any walk-ins, and I was miserable. I stayed for 9 months and decided I needed to get back on my path. I worked in another chain salon and was treated amazing! After I leaped into the private salon is where I hit another rough patch. I was there for a year and when I told them I was leaving. That salon then tried to take the clientele I came in with and offer them discounts and free things to get them to stay.
Ignite Hair Studio – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Ignite Hair Studio specializes in balayage highlights, ombré and color. Ignite is known for their relaxed atmosphere where you can come and sit down and not have to worry. Ignite is a company where you can come in once as a stranger and leave being a part of the family. I pride myself on remembering people, conversations and building a relationship with my clientele.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success as being able to do what I love! I love going to work and having new people wanting to get in the salon. When I get a new client in and find out they saw my work and have to book with me knowing they could go anywhere else but they chose me. That’s when I know I’m only going forward!

I was looking for a new stylist after my daughter-in-law moved to Louisiana. My sister had been going to Amie and was very happy with the work she’d been doing. I have gone to her twice now and LOVE her!
