Meet Angelo Satterwhite of AngeloBakes in Doraville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelo Satterwhite.

Angelo, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It all started at receiving the news that my mother wanted to open up a home daycare center, at that time if I didn’t see where I would be years down the line, I remember getting off the bus walking in the house from school and my mother was adamant about opening this daycare, so then it happened, I was about ten around that time, my mother was a full-blown entrepreneur, I would get home from school and would want to help in any way that I could, so I had the duty of making lunch. I found great joy in flipping grilled cheese sandwiches, and watching them get devoured. Yes, I know you’re saying its “just a grilled cheese sandwich” but to me, it was like a five-course meal. I grew great satisfaction in doing that one job. At that time I knew this is something I would want to pursue, I would then ask my mother to allow me to assist her every moment possible to get my hands in the pot. Unknowingly the mix between seeing my mother being an entrepreneur and me flipping grilled cheese sandwiches was training ground for my future.

I am here today because of my faith, family & friends, and motivation. All three play a huge factor today and for the longevity of my future. Anyone that knows me knows that I love God entrepreneur, and that cannot be taken away, my beliefs have catapulted me into places that I couldn’t have imagined or did for myself, more importantly, it keeps me grounded, focused, and humble. I also believe it takes a village of people that believe in you. My mother (Carla) and father (Angelo Sr.) played a huge role in that I owe them the world for that! Of course, my family and friends in pushing me to continue to pursue my passion. Lastly, I had/have to believe in myself, each and every day. Through the failures, the highs & lows, I have to be motivated enough to know that these big aspirations will come to pass. Destiny and success are attached to my name, so I have to push through and win!

Has it been a smooth road?
Of course, when you travel down the road that is less traveled, it will always be obstacles that come. Along this journey, there have been some challenges. Most of my challenges have been the financial aspect of it to execute some of the things I would like to my standards and then the support element. At times I got wrapped up in that the people that I wanted to support me, but you can’t dwell on that. When you’re gifted the right people will find you and it will continue to build. In all of this stay consistent, we can’t change that challenges may arise, but we can change how we respond to them.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Atlanta!!! First, it’s beautiful, and then the diversity! Its a great city for networking, just entrepreneurs in general. It’s like a melting pot. I’m a New Yorker, so of course everything doesn’t match the vibe of the Big City. I also love that there are ALOT of hidden gems within the city for eateries. Its a growing city with so many opportunities. The FESTIVALS!!!! The absolute best.

Dislikes, there aren’t too many lol, I think a universal dislike is the traffic. its nothing like Atlanta’s traffic. what is a rush hour in Atlanta lol. I like the warmer weather but the summertime can a little on the humid side lol. other than that not too many dislikes.
