Today we’d like to introduce you to Antonio Gould.
Hi Antonio, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
People call me “Tonio G”, the G has many meanings, but what it means to me is Greatness, Goodness, and Godliness. I was born at Grady Hospital on the Westside of Atlanta, in Mechanicsville; that’s where I found my passion for music. I love to sing and create. I grew up in rough neighborhoods all across Atlanta, heavily poverty-stricken. Most of my family either sold drugs or was addicted to drugs which left me and my sister unsupervised most of the time, and I used to get into everything. But on my 4th bday, I remember seeing Usher, Luther Vandross, and Micheal Jackson on TV back to back, and I just knew I wanted to do what they did. So when everyone sang happy birthday to me, I just busted out and started dancing, and everyone was cheering me on; it felt so good I never wanted the feeling to die. Just one problem. I couldn’t sing or dance at all at the time.
Soon after, I was picked up at school by to caseworkers along with my sister who was two years older; I think I was around six at the time. We went into foster care, and for the next seven years, I would go in and out of foster care to finally be faced with the decision to be adopted. I chose to be adopted to break the cycle and in doing so, I went into depression and fell more in love with music. I also discovered what it feels like to have two parents who love you and work hard every day to survive. Wasn’t until around age 14-15 that my voice really started to Develop into something I could share with others confidently even though I sang all the time. So I did my 7th-grade talent show and I sang “My Girl” by the Temptations and also had Chris Brown’s “Gimme Dat” mixed in at the end to kill the show with a fire dance routine and that was when I never looked back. Went on to be able to go on a few independent tours and write for artists like DC Youngfly, Gloss Up, Big Homie Tyni, Domani, Anythony Hamilton, and so many more.
My dawg and business partner Stroud @everybodyknowstroud we make hits. Ever since we linked up, I knew the world is not ready for what we were about to bring, but now it’s my time, and I’m looking forward to being a part of someone’s story In a way that my music and story affects them and causes them to change in whatever way is beneficial to them. I want to continue making good music and I hope that with my hard work, perseverance, and dedication I can feed my legacy and seize my moment. It’s Tonio G.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say in life it has not been a smooth road at all, but I wake up every day smiling and with a renewed heart, ready for whatever the new day has to offer. With music, I would say I’m blessed. Because I worked hard to get to where I am, and I thank God every day for my current situation, always remembering it gets better. But life’s what you make it so I try not to focus on the struggles and focus on the blessings and successes.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
People know me for a lot of things. Someone once called me a Renaissance man or the jack of all trades. What I can say is that people know that I can sing my ass off and k make great music from hiphop, to pop, rnb, and even Afro beats. Others call me “NDO” because of my production company “NDO Productions” where we service music videos, photography, branding, and recording. I like to stay active and always have something going on, so it’s alot more that I could get into if I had the real time. New music is dropping soon! I’m always doing covers, so definitely subscribe to my YouTube and follow my Instagram for new content I’m dropping every week.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice is with Peace, Love, and Positivity we can become the best version of ourselves. And with hard work and perseverance, you can never take a loss, only a lesson. Never give up, even when giving up seems to be the only option. And when you have nothing else to turn to, turn to God to restore and renew you.
