Hi Bomkapr, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Bomkapr Kanu, and I am the founder of The Law Office of B. Kanu, LLC, an international immigration and cross-border boutique law firm. I hold dual U.S. and U.K. citizenship and am the daughter of West African parents. My life experience closely mirrors that of the clients I represent.

Before founding my firm, I worked at one of the world’s leading law firms, representing Fortune 500 companies, global financial institutions, entertainers, and entrepreneurs in complex cross-border immigration matters. I ultimately chose to build The Law Office of B. Kanu, LLC to serve the clients I felt most called to advocate for—artist, individuals, founders, investors, and artists whose lives, ambitions, and identities extend beyond a single passport.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting my own firm has been one of the most humbling journeys of my life. I understand intimately the sacrifices that come with building something from nothing. Entrepreneurship is deeply non-traditional — and that path has a quiet way of making you feel like you’re falling behind the milestones life told you to reach. Missed moments, relentless pressure, the weight of everything resting on you alone.
But what I’ve come to know about myself is that I thrive in difficulty. Those closest to me have come to recognize it too — that I am at my best when the path is uncharted and the territory is brand new. I’ve stopped fearing the unexpected. I’ve learned to expect it instead.

We are a boutique immigration and cross-border law firm serving clients internationally. On the immigration side, we work with families relocating to the United States, founders and investors looking to invest and establish themselves here, and artists and creatives seeking pathways into the country.

We also handle complex cross-border matters — including international divorce, second passport consultations, and other issues that transcend borders and jurisdictions.

What sets us apart is twofold. We have the expertise to achieve results, and the cultural fluency to truly understand the people we serve. Client satisfaction and communication are the pillars of my firm — not an afterthought. Most firms fall short there, and I say that with confidence because our clients tell us so, consistently.

I am most proud of the clients who came to us afraid — overwhelmed by what they’d seen on the news or heard from friends — and left on the other side of a life-changing result.

Although we are headquartered in New York and Atlanta, our reach is global. And no matter where a client is in the world, we are here to assist.
