Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Myster.
Brandon, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve been around music all my life but I didn’t seriously starting recording music until I was 14 when I met rap artist Jon Connor and producer K Wills in my hometown of Flint, Michigan. They both mentored me and helped me understand feels and sounds as well paying attention to detail as an artist/producer. I grew to love and study a huge assortment of music/entertainment which helped me become versatile in my approach to records and styles. Connor helped me gain exposure to the industry early with multiple shows and tours, etc., in which I am forever grateful for. I eventually moved to Atlanta, Georgia when I was 22 and began creatively working extensively with K Wills to continue to grow and build a new sound which has led to new outlets as an artist/brand as well as learning more of the business on an inside track, and it’s been off to the races ever since.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing worth having is ever easy, and with me being exposed to so much at a very early age via music I thought certain elements and opportunities would last forever which is the farthest from the truth especially if you don’t work smart. When I made the transition to ATL as well as doing things on my own I realized how much work it took to actually build a team and actually put yourself in a position to be successful because this is a business and it’s about more than the music. I’ve also battled my own personal demons along with adjusting to a new city and the people while being an outsider trying to insert myself into the mix.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am an artist / Songwriter / Producer, I mainly do R&B, POP, as well as a Rap. I’m most proud of my growth as an artist and how my versatility has helped guided me in a new direction. I believe what sets me apart is my ability to relate on a wide scale and create a vibe no matter what. I never sat out to be the best rapper or singer but I do wanna be the best artist that has the greatest wave to translate to all in the most authentic way. I’ll never be in between with a listener, you’ll either love or hate me but the main thing is that you’ll feel something and to me that’s all that matters because art is a feeling
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
So my elementary school was right across the street from my house as a child so at times my dad would sign me out at lunch and take me to get something to eat or we would go back to our house and he would make me something.
