Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenden Adams.
Hi Brenden, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been playing music for almost all my life. In 2015 I graduated from SAE Atlanta, which is an Audio Engineering school here in Atlanta. Since then I started my own production company, B|A|M, worked with artists from all over the world and released some music myself with a couple different projects. Most recently, I started a project called BROTHER RANDY with one of my best friends. We have released a couple singles already, “Messy” and “Betray”. Our first EP is coming out in November!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has most certainly not been smooth. Being an artist, or a creator of any kind, I think one of the biggest struggles happens internally. Externally there is so much noise, so many people giving you reasons to do not do what you love, so many realities in life that keep you away from it – for good or bad. But none of that compares to what a creator can go through internally. The doubt can be crippling. The search for perfection can become never ending. You can think of 10,000 reasons not to release something. That is something with BROTHER RANDY I’ve actively had to fight against. This project, from day one, has been about fun. We’ve had fun creating the music, shooting videos and planning it all out.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve written and produced a bunch of records in the past. For BROTHER RANDY I’m doing both. I wrote the songs and produced the record. Something I’ve learned is that whatever increases the likelihood of the project getting done is what you should do. In our case, I knew relying on a bunch of other people would decrease the chances of the record happening. So I ended up doing a lot. I’m not the best writer, producer, singer, guitar player, etc… but I CAN do all of those things, so I did it.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned recently is to just have fun with it. Not everything needs to be about chasing this unattainable benchmark of perfection. Just do your genuine best to make it the best that you can, and let it go. And one more, don’t listen to the fear. Like I said, the internal struggle can sometimes be the biggest thing to overcome. Do your best to ignore the fear and just DO.
