Meet Brittany Binowski of Wonder Girl Astrology in Old Fourth Ward

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Binowski.

Brittany, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
During my senior year at the University of Georgia in 2010, my dad passed away unexpectedly and my relationship with my college sweetheart was falling apart. Shortly after graduation, I moved to New York City for graduate school. It felt like everything I had known and loved was taken from me. As a result, I was left confused, sad, and very lost. I started to look to astrology… not as a real thing… but just for fun. I started to look to astrology to distract me from the many sad things going on in my life. That interest in astrology never left me. In fact, it only increased with time as a I began to look for even more answers about my experience — including what exactly had happened in 2010, and more importantly, why. After studying astrology for fun and personal development in my spare time, I realized that I knew enough to read birth charts. Then, my job as a journalist started to become unfulfilling. It only made sense, then, that I would pursue my passion as my job, using my experience in journalism to communicate complex spiritual truths in a more easy-to-understand way.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have been very lucky. My astrology business grew faster and bigger than I could have imagined. However, it did take a lot of work in order for me to get here. When I first started my astrology business, I was also working in journalism full time. That means that I would work 10-6 at my full-time job, come home, eat dinner, and then spend the rest of the night building my business. I was working around the clock. My health habits then began to deteriorate. Because I was so busy and stressed, I wasn’t eating well and wasn’t sleeping well. I ended up getting horrible acne, which left a lot of scars on my face, and other weird health issues that persisted for quite some time. I eventually had to scale back big time on my work in order to get it under control, which felt a little like a personal failure but ended up being for the best.

Please tell us abuto your work.
I am an astrologer. I help people better understand themselves and their lives, and I give them hope and inspiration for the future. I do this through filming regular horoscope videos and interpreting people’s personal birth charts in one-on-one sessions. I am different from other astrologers in the way that I communicate. I do my best to not just explain what is going on right now in the astrology, but to also provide a larger context of what has happened many months and years prior leading to this point. I also feel I am different because I am able to communicate complex spiritual truths in a way that is more practical, applicable to everyday life, and easier to understand without a lot of complex jargon. Some astrologers can be too esoteric in their interpretations. Other astrologers can be too simple. I feel I walk a fine line between the two — making esoteric concepts more accessible, but in a real way that feels like it has substance. I also feel as though I help people encounter themselves — the good and the bad — without the fear, shame, or heaviness that they might have otherwise.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Hard work and luck! Both are needed in equal parts for success. I also feel as though people are just drawn to my unique style of thinking and communicating. It is that that I believe attracts people to me the most.
