Meet Brittany Gooch of Salon 922 in Greater Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Gooch.

Brittany, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started my career in the beauty industry with my family’s successful salon almost ten years ago. I underwent apprenticeship and then decided put myself through cosmetology school. Soon after, I felt that I needed my own identity so I branched out. I am currently employed at Salon 922 located near historic Buford, north of Atlanta. The entire beauty industry, specifically doing hair was always something I had a passion for. Over the years, I have committed myself to continuing my education and perfecting my craft. While building my clientele and evolving into a successful hairstylist, I knew that I had so much more to offer. So, I sought out one of my favorite product lines, Thermafuse. This company gave me the ability to educate myself, clients, and peers. After extensive training, I was quickly promoted to an educator and a National Platform Artist. When I am not traveling to teach, I work full time behind the chair and I absolutely love it.

Has it been a smooth road?
Working in the hair industry is tough, very tough but it is so rewarding! It is very competitive and staying current is a must in order to be a successful stylist. Knowing the trends and how fast the industry changes took some time for me to get used to. Finding your brand and building a clientele are some of the most important things about my job. It takes time, patience, and a lot of dedication. With that being said quitting my first job and taking the leap to start this career was so scary, but I am so thankful I did.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I work as an independent contractor/hairstylist at Salon 922. From precision cutting and creative coloring to luxurious extensions and waxing services, I offer all things hair! I specialize in hair painting and custom color services. I would say as far as services go, I get the most requests for my blonde color projects. I feel that what sets me apart from other stylists in my industry is my honesty. It’s so easy to find someone to cut or color your hair for a quick dollar but to have a professional tell you that you might not need a service performed, (even if it means less money) is rare. I feel that my clients are (in a sense) my walking billboards, so I ensure that every person looks just as good as I strive to make them feel. I spend more time than the average stylist on continuing education to be my personal best for my clients. I am confident when I say that I am more than an average stylist.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I would say anywhere in Atlanta or greater Atlanta would be a perfect place to start in the beauty industry. Atlanta is continuously growing and getting more popular year after year. There is so much culture in the city that it’s hard not to find inspiration in any part you visit.

This is an amazing lady in and out of the salon. She is always helping those around her, while doing whatever she can to accommodate her clients. She builds a relationship with those in her path and reaches out to those just passing by. Beautiful inside and out and so impressively talented. Customer for life right here.
