Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlin Labistour.
Hi Caitlin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am originally from a place called Wentworth in Durban, South Africa. I’ve always had a love and passion for taking pictures and videos it just that now I’m able to do what I love whilst working with brands that I love.
The amount of opportunities that have come my way are insane and I will never stop being anything but grateful for every door that God has opened for me.
My family has definitely been my biggest inspiration and motivation. My mother and grandparents have always been my role models especially now as I get older.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been far from smooth sailing. Nothing worth having comes easy so I take every trial and tribulation as a blessing because it allowed me to learn and grow from it.
Comparison is a thief of joy so I try not to focus on anybody else’s journey but it would be amazing to be further along. I know that I am exactly where I’m supposed to be though.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a content creator and I use that to dip my hands into a bunch of different pots. I use it as a way to motivate and inspire people who look like me especially because so many people feel as if their dreams are further away than they actually are !
Anything is possible and you can do anything that you put your mind to. I also take care of elderly people so my love for providing care for others goes deeper than just content creation.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I left my home country with a 23kg (50lbs) suitcase to a country where I knew absolutely nobody. That’s definitely the biggest risk that I’ve taken especially because there was no telling what this journey would be like. Risk taking might be scary but it is usually necessary. Nothing grows in your comfort zone so you have to take a chance because you never know what could be the end result.
Life is short so you have to take a chances because tomorrow isn’t promised.
