Meet Candace Green | Research Coordinator and Author

Today we’re excited to introduce you to Candace Green. Candace is a Research Coordinator, Author and is also a content partner. Content partners help Voyage in so many ways from spreading the word about the work that we do, sponsoring our mission and collaborating with us on content like this. Check out our conversation with Candace below.

Hi Candace, so great to have you join us again. For folks who might have missed our earlier conversations, can you please take a minute to briefly introduce yourself?
My full name is Candace Danielle Ogechi Green. I used to strongly dislike my middle name, but after I learned the meaning, I came to embrace it. I am a Birmingham, Alabama transplant by way of Washington D.C. I am the author of “The Illusion of Fear: How to live your best fear free life”, and an inspirational blogger. I work as a research coordinator at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

How have things changed with your book since we first interviewed you?
Well, I am now in a bookstore! I never thought I’d see the day where this book had shelf space. If you’re ever in the Birmingham area, visit Homecoming Coffee and Books in the 5 Points West Area. It is Black-Woman Owned, and there is literally a book there for everyone.

Has your focus shifted since the first interview? Are you working on anything new right now?
A little. At the time of the last interview I was focused on my meal prep service, which is on a hiatus. I’ve turned my attention back to writing, and now I offer proofread and editing services. I was able to secure a magazine client this year, and I’m super proud of that. I do love cooking, and eventually I’ll get back to that, but writing has my attention right now.

How has COVID affected you and your business endeavors?
It did actually, and it was one of the reasons I decided to close down my cooking service. It was homebased, and until I have the capital to rent out a commercial kitchen, I’m putting a pause on it. You can write from anywhere, and the stress of COVID, along with racial tensions in this country has really given me some things to write about.

Alright, so before we go, how can our readers connect with you to learn more and show support?
My personal website is www.candacedogreen.com, and my IG is c_dog93. I’d love to connect with you guys!
