Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelcie Scott.
Chelcie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a mother of 1 who juggled from working, parenting and graduating from college.
I was motivated by my failing relationship, becoming a new mother and juggling family issues from my past that became an outlet, Whenever I got down on myself I used the gym to help uplift me. I found comfort in being able to control my circumstances and rebuilding my confidence, own self-structure so I could be a better daughter, friend, mother, sorror, and more. My failed relationship and postpartum depression caused me to have low self-esteem. Putting me in a place of doubt, fear, sadness, and guilt. However, beginning my first bikini competition helped me start to rebuild my own self-confidence and put back together the pieces of my life. Putting back the pieces of my life started when I moved to Atlanta and started to surround myself with people who motivated me to do better all the while pursuing my Masters in Sports Administration.
So, the same way I used the bikini competition to inspire myself, I use my platform and my story to inspire others who are going through similar trials and tribulations.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I think everything has a transition period. It has not been perfect but I think the biggest challenge has been being a single parent, not having the significant other there in times of need/relief, school, financial aid, support and just able to live. Not saying I would trade my daughter anything but as a woman who is striving to provide for herself and daughter can be really discouraging and stressful. But those are the things that inspire me and that I love about parenthood and being a mother. I would not trade it for the world. My obstacles/challenges are my motivation.
Please tell us about CHELCIE SCOTT.
My business and company is Chelcie Scott. Chelcie Scott is me, Chelcie Scott is my story, Chelcie Scott embodies me. Talks about me coming from my struggles that I express, my depression, motherhood, me being a black woman in today’s society, that is who Chelcie Scott is. As far as training standpoint, I just use my background in sports administration and health to inspire/motivate others. Me being a former athlete, I love to do what athletes do so you will see a lot of my movements based on what they do. Also, I am very competitive as a woman, so you see me do the same things that my peers do at STACK SPORTS PERFORMANCE. I love to get in the mix and push others to strive to be healthy.
My proud moment of my company is being recognized amongst my peers as elite in what I do. I was fortunate enough to be selected to join PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT and my peers acknowledging me for my success with me helping/motivating others. Just seeing other women smile and being empowered by the things I do has motivated me and has motivated Chelcie Scott to do better and become bigger.
What sets me apart from others is my foundation, my story, my training. I know a lot of people go through a lot but I think what I have been through has made me a better/stronger person and has given me a different perspective on life. It has shown me that nothing is given and if you use what you have in your background/backstory to motivate you and push others it will all come together. Stick to your foundation of training for example; I do sports performance, if you use that same foundation to build and not get dithered by what others do on social media. You may see them doing something that may work for you because they have all the followers. If you get distracted by that than your just following behind others. Having a foundation and going behind it/sticking to what you know, ultimately it will build your brand. It’s just like having a mission statement, you have to stick to it. Once you lose that mission statement, you lose who you are.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would not have done it anything different. My life has definitely not been the easiest but it has only built and shaped me to be the woman and mother that I am today. I continuously reflect on where I came from to where I am now. This allows me to stay hungry and humble for what God has in store for me and my family. I want my story to be the exactly the same, because I do not know where I would be without it.
