Meet Chris Magdalenski of Chris Magdalenski Photography in Marietta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Magdalenski.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Chris. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve been pursuing still photography on more or less a hobbyist level for as long as I can remember. From a fairly young age I’ve had some kind of camera, and though I’ve gone through periods where I haven’t picked it up as much, I’ve always found my way back to it. For the past few years I’ve been focused more on cinematography – serving as a director of photography on various independent films, but recently I reconnected with my stills camera and started to shoot more fashion/portrait work – which I absolutely love. I’ve also started to do some work in product photography, which has provided another set of fun challenges.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Though I am starting to get paid photography work, my bread and butter is still as a graphic designer. My goal is to build my photography into a self-sustaining business and that has had it’s struggles, as finding paying clients takes some time. That said, I’ve had some new work come my way recently so things are looking up. Like a lot of things, it requires patience and persistence.

Please tell us about Chris Magdalenski Photography.
Primarily I focus on fashion, glamour, and portrait – but I’ve been moving into product photography and have been doing some event work as well.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Early on I did a lot of landscape photography, and while I love it, I do wish I had started photographing people earlier on.
