Meet Dallas Vella

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dallas Vella.

Dallas, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Being a photographer is not something I initially envisioned for myself. I had experimented with different career fields after college, but somehow my passion for capturing something new on film always crept its way to the forefront of my goals and desires. There’s something about freezing time and capturing light that helps me express the exact thoughts and emotions I had when creating an image. It’s that feeling that has brought me back to my passion of capturing the natural world time and time again.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Self-doubt has always been an obstacle within my career as a photographer. It’s hard to ignore the critics who are ever-present in this digital age, but once I started producing images that made me fulfilled and worried less about producing images others would deem worthy, my artistic ability grew exponentially. I am comfortable with my work and when an artist is in their flow, it’s hard to hinder them.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
We are known primarily for selling prints of images captured around the world. I have compiled photos from more than 30 countries around the world, taking little pieces of their culture and natural splendor along the way. We are also available for event photography or portraits for work, school, jobs, etc.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory as a child is just playing hard! I wasn’t held inside by the technology of today. While the new gears and gadgets are very powerful and helpful, there is something to be said about using your imagination outside and just enjoying the human experience. I always remind myself to be a kid again… smell the smells, see the sights, taste the tastes, feel the feelings. I guess just be present in the way children are.
