Today, we’d like to introduce you to Dana Nunnally.

Hi Dana, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was teaching high school and had become incredibly burned out. I was too tired to give my children the time that they so deserved, and I didn’t have the time to take care of my well-being. I had always dreamed of creating a space that fostered healing, self-care, and enhanced health and well-being.

The combination of this dream, along with the lack of a space like I had envisioned in my area, prompted me to create Drench. Other wellness seekers and I in our area lacked access to quality private infrared saunas – in fact, none were available at all. I envisioned creating a space where our community could enjoy the absolute best full-spectrum infrared saunas on the market.

But beyond that, I wanted Drench to feel different from the clinical vibe of other wellness centers; I wanted it to feel like a welcoming spa environment. Recognizing this need in our town, I took action and brought Drench to life.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Creating a small business involves numerous challenges. Securing funding and managing cash flow are constant struggles, as is navigating regulatory requirements and the competition (we didn’t have that in the beginning).

Building brand awareness and acquiring loyal customers requires significant effort and resources. Additionally, balancing personal and professional life can be demanding, especially in the initial stages when the business needs constant attention to grow and succeed.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Networking isn’t just about what you can get; it’s also about what you can give. I’ve found that offering my expertise or assistance to others can naturally lead to reciprocal relationships where mentorship develops organically and authentically.

Authenticity is so important in building trust and meaningful connections. I’ve learned to be patient and allow relationships to develop naturally over time rather than trying to force immediate mentorship or networking success. I have also found mentors in unexpected places—former colleagues, friends, or even customers who have valuable insights to offer. I’ve learned to nurture these existing relationships and be open to learning from those around me.

Finding a mentor and navigating networking as an introverted small business owner can be challenging, but by focusing on genuine connections and leveraging personal strengths, it’s possible to build a supportive network that contributes to long-term success.
