Meet Daniel “Kinslow” Pollio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Pollio.

Hi Daniel, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a rapper from Louisville, Kentucky. Growing up with a Polish immigrant mother, I was raised to believe that success meant getting a traditional job, so music never seemed like a realistic path. I wrote my first rap at 16 and started recording seriously about 4 years later once I found my sound. Since then, I’ve spent the last eight years putting everything I have into this—my time, money, energy, and focus.

As an independent artist, I’ve had a distribution deal with EQ/Roc Nation, reached a million YouTube views, appeared on several freestyle platforms, and built an audience across social media. I’ve always been driven by the music itself and the pursuit of becoming one of the best rappers out.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Coming from Louisville, Kentucky, I’ve had to build everything on my own without many industry connections. Like a lot of independent artists, I’ve faced setbacks, financial challenges, and plenty of situations that didn’t go as planned.

But those experiences made me more determined. Every obstacle taught me something, and they’ve all played a part in shaping me into the artist I am today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
What sets me apart is that I’m completely comfortable being myself. My personality, sense of humor, voice, and creativity all show up in my music. I don’t try to sound like whoever is popular at the moment.

I’ve built my own unique sound through years of experimenting and working with creative people who think outside the box. I also feel like I have a distinct voice that helps separates me. Whether it’s the lyrics, the visuals, or the music itself, my goal is to create something really special. I want my music to be instantly recognizable because there’s nobody else making it the way I do. And No one sounds like me.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I went through a lot of different phases growing up. As a kid, I was social, curious, and always interested in things like movies, sports, and spending time with friends. As I got older, I became more independent and started meeting people from all different backgrounds, which really broadened my perspective on life.

By high school, I had developed a strong love for hip-hop and started paying close attention to artists who inspired me. Seeing local rappers making a name for themselves made music feel like a real possibility, and I ended up writing my first rap in chemistry class. Looking back, those experiences played a big role in shaping who I am today.
