Meet Darlene Appolon of App One Event Space

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darlene Appolon.

Hi Darlene, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my journey in real estate through buying properties and doing fix-and-flips. Over time, I developed a passion for creating spaces and opportunities that brought people together. About 8 years ago, my twin brother and I entered the short-term rental and Airbnb industry in Atlanta, and we’ve been successfully hosting ever since. That experience taught us a lot about hospitality, customer service, and building memorable experiences for guests.
Last year, I took another major step by purchasing my first commercial property. What once was a gym, I transformed into what is now known as App One Event Space. A beautiful venue designed to help people celebrate life’s most important moments. As an entrepreneur, my journey has been built on faith, consistency, and the willingness to take risks.
Along the way, I also became an author and wrote two eBooks: How to Start Airbnb Step by Step and From Gym Floors to Generational Wealth. Both books were created to inspire and educate others who want to build income, ownership, and long-term wealth through entrepreneurship and real estate.
Today, I continue to grow in real estate, hospitality, and business while inspiring others to pursue ownership, create legacy, and never be afraid to start small.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it definitely has not been a smooth road. In real estate, especially when buying distressed properties, one of the biggest challenges has been finding reliable contractors who can truly get the job done correctly and on time. There’s often a lot of back and forth, unexpected delays, and problem-solving throughout the renovation process.
With Airbnb and short-term rentals, there are also slow seasons, so I had to learn how to pivot, market differently, and use multiple platforms to continue scaling the business and keeping properties occupied consistently.
As for the event space industry, it’s a constant hustle. You have to continuously put yourself out there, create content daily, network, and find creative ways to advertise and stay visible to the public. People often see the finished product, but behind the scenes it takes consistency, dedication, and a strong mindset to keep growing. Despite the challenges, every obstacle has taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of never giving up on the vision.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
App One Event Space is a modern event venue located in Dallas, Georgia, created to provide a beautiful and versatile space where people can celebrate life’s most important moments. What makes our venue unique is that it started as a former gym that I transformed into an elegant “blank canvas” event space designed to fit many different types of events and visions.
We specialize in hosting weddings, birthdays, baby showers, graduations, corporate events, networking mixers, repasts, and community celebrations. One thing clients love most about our venue is the flexibility of the space. No two events ever look the same. We provide a clean, modern atmosphere where clients can truly customize their experience.
What sets App One Event Space apart is the passion and hospitality behind the brand. We focus heavily on customer experience, creativity, and helping people create unforgettable memories with their loved ones. Through consistency, social media marketing, and community networking, we’ve built a brand that continues to grow and stay visible in a competitive industry.
One thing I’m most proud of is turning a vision into reality and showing others that with faith, hard work, and determination, you can create generational wealth and opportunities for your family. App One Event Space represents more than just a venue. It represents growth, ownership, legacy, and bringing people together.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5–10 years, I see the event space and real estate industries becoming even more driven by branding, social media, and customer experience. Businesses that stay visible online and continue creating content will have a major advantage. People are looking for unique experiences, not just venues or properties, so creativity and marketing will continue to play a huge role.
Personally, I see myself stepping back from being on the front lines every day and focusing more on building strong teams that can successfully run the businesses while I oversee operations from the sidelines. I believe the true goal of entrepreneurship is creating systems and opportunities that continue to grow beyond yourself.
I also see myself becoming more of a mentor and educator. Helping others who want to get started in business, real estate, Airbnb, or entrepreneurship. One area I’m especially passionate about is teaching people how to access personal and business funding so they can create opportunities for themselves, invest in assets, and build generational wealth. I believe more people are realizing that ownership, multiple streams of income, and financial education are key to long-term success.
