Meet DJ Ragland of The DJ Entertainment

Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ Ragland.

Hi DJ, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I founded The DJ Entertainment on March 1st, 2017. Despite lacking prior film experience and family support due to differing life views, I was determined to pursue my passion.

When I started the company, I welcomed anyone who possessed talent and a desire to contribute, regardless of whether I knew them beforehand. This commitment to talent over connections remains a core principle of The DJ Entertainment today.

Initially, we had no external support or significant funding, so we began our journey with just an iPhone. Over the years, our dedication and hard work have led to remarkable growth and achievements. We’ve won multiple film festivals nationwide, debuted our content on major streaming platforms like Amazon Prime and Tubi, and most recently, we successfully sold out AMC Phipps Plaza 14 in Atlanta within a week for the premiere of our popular franchise, “DJ’s MMP.”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a challenging yet rewarding journey building the company. I made the difficult decision to pursue my dreams rather than the path my family envisioned for me, which meant I built this company without any family support. I often saw the cast and crew’s families together during holidays and movie premieres, and while I wished my own family could be there, I made a sacrifice for the company’s sake, and I don’t regret it.

We also faced doubts from people who believed we couldn’t achieve success coming from a small city. However, we have exceeded expectations and accomplished things that no one thought possible.

We’ve been impressed with The DJ Entertainment, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The DJ Entertainment is an independent film company based in Columbus, Georgia. We produce films and shows for a global audience, distributed through streaming networks and movie premieres.

What truly sets us apart is our journey. Despite starting without formal training or prior experience in the field, we’ve achieved accolades that often elude those with degrees and years of experience. I’m especially proud of the unity and dedication within my crew; we all enjoy our work and are committed to the company’s success.

We are currently producing our first animated film, set for release in 2027, coinciding with our 10th anniversary. Additionally, we’ve already sold out AMC Phipps Plaza 14 for our upcoming movie, *DJ’s MMP: Welcome to Death Row*.

In the past three months, we’ve won four film festival awards for our TV Series, *DJ’s MMP*, which is now available on Amazon Prime and Tubi. These awards include the Independent Shorts Awards, Crown Point International Film Festival, and the Global Film Festival Awards.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
I have learned that despite what people say, follow your dreams. Even if they don’t believe you, follow your dreams, no matter what.
