Meet Domonique Appleby of MicromiBrows LLC in Decatur

Today we’d like to introduce you to Domonique Appleby.

Domonique, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Micromi Brows, “Beauty begins the moment you begin to love yourself.” Meet Domonique Appleby! A native of Miami, Florida, raised in Cleveland, Ohio, proud of her Jamaican background and designed with entrepreneurship in her heart. From a young age, she knew she wanted something that was her own! She didn’t know what route she was taking to get there. Her first venture was the birth of a cleaning company. For two years, with her partner/fiancée, she worked diligently to grow her business, fighting roadblocks and moving aside barriers. “I remember watching “Real Housewives of Atlanta” and imagining myself in that lifestyle.” So, after a short visit to Atlanta, Georgia, she prayerfully decided to pack up her family and take her talents to a new city.

After working for one of the local hospitals and realizing that she needed to get back to her first love, her own business, she walked away from the corporate world again and hence, MICROMI BROWS was born!!! Micromi Brows is home to all things beautiful. From eyebrows to lashes, teeth whitening to helping her clients attain clearer skin, the goal is and always have been to pull out the beauty in everyone and provide them with a pure place to expose their insecurities and transform them into perfect imperfections. “I went to school, taught myself what they didn’t teach me, and strived to be the best” she states. “Now I have my own business and I get to help people feel beautiful. That’s one of the biggest satisfactions.” After the release of her first book in 2017, “Micromi Brows Microblading Training” and “Micromi Brows Eyelash Extension Training,” she then started her brow/makeup line so she could expand her knowledge and products to the world. It hasn’t always been easy. One of the biggest challenges is getting through the highs and lows, sometimes inconsistent parts of business. But she hasn’t let that deter her from the mission. “KEEP PUSHING!”

So what’s next for Micromi Brows? “I’d love to open up more locations and have my school.” Yes, this humble and talented young woman is working towards not only opening up more salons but also creating an institution designed to help young entrepreneurs coming out of high school find their place in the LIMITLESS WORLD OF BEAUTY. I’m a mother of 3 children, ages 14,12 and 5. They are the reason I work so hard. She wants to show her kids what real beauty means and leave them a legacy to reign because she knows the sky is Not the Limit. It’s just the beginning of an infinite world of success!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I want to say that being a small business is a challenge in itself. But my drive won’t let me give up. One of the biggest obstacles I faced was trying to get local community support. No matter how good you are. Even family and friends weren’t supporting. I use to be so sad and upset. Now I realize that stop looking for support and continue your purpose and people will support. Theirs many days business was slow and even none at all and theirs times its booming I learn to work with what I have and make it happen, As time goes it gets better and better.

Domonique Appleby owns MicromiBrows LLC. This business specializes in permanent makeup. This includes Microblading brows, Lip blush, scar cover up, micro scalp pigmentation, permanent eyeliner, and more. We also specialize in mink eyelash extensions, Laser lipo, Teeth whitening and Spa services such as facials and massages. We have our own branded eyebrow makeup that stays 24hrs plus and is water-resistant, Along with lash strips. The owner also offers training courses that included:

*Eyelash extensions application

*Brow Tinting

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I remember when I was younger, My dad use to take me fishing with him. I always thought he was a superhero. He would touch the fishes with his bare hands and say see they cant do you nothing LOL.
