Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Tahira Lee.
Hi Dr. Tahira , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey has been anything but traditional, and honestly, that’s exactly why I’m so passionate about the work I do today.
I’m Dr. Tahira Lee, also known as “The Real HOPE Doc,” and I’m the Founder & CEO of HOPE Enterprises Inc., a purpose-driven organization focused on education, empowerment, entrepreneurship, media, community impact, and helping people transform their lives through HOPE.
Like many people, my story includes both triumphs and challenges. I’ve experienced moments that tested my faith, resilience, identity, and purpose, but those experiences became the foundation for the mission I now walk in. I realized that some of the greatest breakthroughs come from the moments that try to break us. Instead of allowing pain, setbacks, or limitations to define me, I decided to use my experiences to help others heal, grow, and dream bigger.
Over the years, I’ve evolved into a speaker, educator, entrepreneur, author, and community leader committed to disrupting traditional systems and creating new pathways for people who may have once felt overlooked or underestimated. One of the projects closest to my heart is HOPE House University, our innovative remote Charter School for students ages 7–17 that focuses on entrepreneurship, leadership, financial literacy, technology, social-emotional intelligence, media, and real-world life skills. We believe education should empower students to discover who they are — not just train them to fit into a system.
In addition to education, we’ve continued expanding through community initiatives, strategic partnerships, media collaborations, mentorship programs, and speaking engagements designed to inspire transformation and impact communities locally and globally.
A huge part of my mission is reminding people that their story does not disqualify them — it qualifies them to help someone else. Everything I’ve built has been rooted in purpose, collaboration, faith, resilience, and the belief that HOPE can truly change lives.
Today, I continue building alongside my husband, Dr. Tarik Lee, our incredible team of HOPE Dealers, and a growing network of partners and collaborators who believe in creating meaningful impact together.
At the core of everything we do is one simple belief:
“We are different. So are you.”
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, but I’ve learned that growth rarely happens in comfort.
One of the biggest challenges has been building something unconventional in spaces that often reward conformity. HOPE Enterprises and HOPE House University were created to disrupt traditional ways of thinking about education, leadership, business, and personal development. Whenever you challenge systems or introduce new ideas, there will naturally be resistance, skepticism, and moments where people don’t immediately understand the vision.
There were also financial challenges, moments of uncertainty, and seasons where we had to build with limited resources while carrying very big dreams. As an entrepreneur and visionary, there are times when you have to continue believing in what you see before everyone else can see it. That requires faith, resilience, discipline, and a willingness to keep moving forward even when things are difficult behind the scenes.
Personally, I’ve also had to overcome self-doubt, burnout, disappointment, and the emotional weight that can come with leading while simultaneously healing and growing yourself. People often see the highlights, the speaking engagements, the partnerships, or the movement, but they don’t always see the sacrifices, long nights, setbacks, and personal battles that happen in the process.
Another challenge has been balancing purpose with sustainability. When your mission is deeply connected to helping people and creating impact, it’s easy to overextend yourself. I’ve had to learn the importance of boundaries, alignment, intentional partnerships, and building systems that allow the vision to grow in a healthy and sustainable way.
But honestly, every struggle taught me something valuable. The difficult moments strengthened my faith, sharpened my leadership, and reminded me why the mission matters so much. They also helped me become more compassionate and understanding toward others who are navigating their own challenges.
I truly believe that some of our hardest seasons become the very thing that prepares us for our purpose. Looking back now, I can honestly say that every obstacle helped shape the woman, leader, and visionary I am today.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
HOPE Enterprises Inc. is more than a business — it’s a purpose-driven ecosystem built around education, empowerment, entrepreneurship, media, community impact, and transformation. At our core, we exist to help people unlock their potential, discover purpose, and create lives they truly love.
One of our most exciting and innovative initiatives is HOPE House University, our remote charter school for students ages 7–17. We launched HOPE House University because we recognized that many students are incredibly gifted but are not always thriving within traditional educational systems. Our model focuses on real-world learning, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, leadership, technology, media, emotional intelligence, life skills, and purpose development. We want students to not only learn academically, but to understand who they are, how to lead, how to create opportunities, and how to impact the world around them.
What makes us different is that we intentionally combine education with empowerment and real-life application. We believe students should graduate with confidence, creativity, leadership skills, business knowledge, and the ability to think independently — not just memorize information.
Beyond education, HOPE Enterprises also focuses heavily on speaking, mentorship, media collaborations, community initiatives, branding partnerships, and strategic collaborations designed to create lasting impact. We work with entrepreneurs, organizations, educators, creators, and leaders who want to build something meaningful and purpose-centered.
I’m also the author of Love, Lies & HOPE: A Pathway to Freedom, which shares part of my personal journey while encouraging others to heal, grow, and reclaim their power through truth and HOPE. That message of transformation carries through everything we do as an organization.
I think one of the things people remember most about our brand is that we lead with authenticity, collaboration, and vision. We genuinely believe in “collaboration over competition,” and we’ve built a culture where people feel seen, valued, inspired, and empowered to grow. Even internally, we don’t refer to our team as employees — we call them “Partners in HOPE” and “HOPE Dealers” because we believe everyone has the ability to spread HOPE and create impact in their own unique way.
What sets us apart is that we are not trying to fit into a traditional box. We’re intentionally building something innovative, heart-centered, disruptive, and future-focused. Whether through education, speaking, media, partnerships, or community outreach, our mission is always the same: to inspire transformation and help people realize that their story, their voice, and their purpose matter.
Honestly, what I’m most proud of is the movement and community that’s being built around the vision. Seeing students gain confidence, watching partnerships form organically, hearing stories of healing and transformation, and watching people begin to believe in themselves again — that’s the real success for me.
At HOPE, we believe:
“We are different. So are you.”
And we fully embrace that.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my fondest childhood memories was when my father, who was stationed overseas in Japan at the time, came home during a break and surprised me with the biggest teddy bear I had ever seen in my life. To a little girl, it felt absolutely gigantic — almost bigger than me — and I remember feeling so loved, special, and excited. It wasn’t just about the teddy bear itself, but about the feeling of connection, love, and knowing that even from far away, my father was thinking about me.
Another huge part of my favorite childhood memories centers around my mother and the way she brought everyone together through food and family. She would cook these incredible Sunday brunches that became an experience all on their own. The house would be filled with warmth, laughter, and the smell of homemade pancakes, waffles, and so many delicious dishes. Honestly, she made the best pancakes and waffles ever.
Those Sundays felt safe, peaceful, and full of love. We would eat so much that by the end of the day, everyone was completely full, relaxed, and usually asleep somewhere in the house. Looking back, I realize it wasn’t just about the food — it was about family, comfort, togetherness, and creating moments that made people feel at home.
I think those experiences shaped me more than I realized at the time. They taught me the importance of love, connection, hospitality, and creating environments where people feel cared for and seen. Even now, so much of what I build through HOPE is rooted in creating that same feeling of belonging, warmth, and support for others.
