Meet Edi Hayes of Her Career Cafe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Edi Hayes.

Edi, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Absolutely! My name is Edi Hayes; I am a wife, mother, corporate 9-5’er and an entrepreneur. I’ve worked in HR (Human Resources) for 15 years, in different capacities and industries, with many of those years as a Senior Recruiter. I’ve seen a million+1 resumes, conducted twice as many interviews and unfortunately, declined more people than I would prefer. It has always been second nature to provide tailored advice on how a person can increase their chance on landing that next job or simply how to navigate their career – right where they are.

In all, my personal and professional experience created the foundation for Her Career Café, which provides tailored career solutions.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
First, let me just say – Imposter Syndrome is real! From a client perspective, the biggest challenge has been helping people recognize they deserve and can attain everything they desire for their career, but that action must accompany their dreams.

As an entrepreneur, there have been some tough lessons learned – streamlining services, learning how to attract and retain the right audience and creating a balance between the business, my 9-5 and home life. I say that with a smile and confidence, knowing that any adversities I encounter will be met by my grit, precision and agility.

Please tell us about Her Career Cafe.
Her Career Café was thoughtfully created to help people navigate their career by providing tailored career solutions to include; career consultations (i.e. pay negotiation, workplace conflict resolution, job search strategies), resume revamps and interview prep.

Our services are for everyone; college students, 9-5’ers, and blue/white collar folks (I hate those labels) at all levels. I have a high lens for people of color as we tend to be “left behind” all too often. We pride ourselves on meeting clients where they are in their career journey while providing practical advice and a tangible game plan on how to meet and exceed their goals.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would’ve started my business sooner! A lot of times, or at least for me I was so worried about waiting for the perfect time or saving up money to start with a big bang, but the reality is, there’s never a perfect time and things always work out when you are determined. As stated in The Alchemist – When you really want something in life, the universe will conspire in helping you achieve it.
