Today, we’d like to introduce you to Eva Connolly. Eva was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Vickie Martin.
Hi Eva, we’re so thrilled to have you sharing your story with us today. Maybe we can kick things off by having you introduce yourself to our readers? We’d love to have you go into your story and how you got to where you are today.
Hi, my name is Eva-Maria Connolly. I own the “Art-Haus” gallery in Atlanta/Grant Park neighborhood since August 2016. I am a passionate artist and an active supporter of emerging artists. I host & curate shows every month. I received my BFA at Valdosta State University/Georgia. I worked all my life as a graphic designer and graphic artist in the printing industry.
Let’s talk about your work and career – what else should we know?
I love to combine srt & fashion. From 2000 to 2004 I owned another gallery & fashion boutique in East Atlanta on Glenwood Avenue called “ Martini-Girl”. Art & fashion are my passions, both go hand in hand. My creation “ Martini-Girl” is portrayed in my pop-art paintings and it exist as a fashion label of my one of a kind fashion line. In 2003 on Good Morning Atlanta I was a guest on a program considered 1 of 3 emerging Fashion designers in Atlanta. I love to just be able to translate my ideas on canvas and in fabric. My Martini-Girl is a Ted head, she can be Caucasian. Asian or African American. All she needs to have is red hair. My models on a runway would wear sometimes a red wig. I also had a signature model Liz Lampkin, which was an African American size 8 professional model. She was considered plus size.
As you know, we’re big fans of Vickie Martin and we know you’ve worked with them quite a bit as well. We’d love to hear about your experience working with Vickie Martin.
When I received an email from Miss Vickie with her art samples almost 5 years ago, I was instantly drawn to it. Her art is so unique yet the language so easily understood. She is such a creative artist. Her art is abstract but at the same time not chaotic but soothing. It does not create anger or business so often seen in art of this genre. I almost feel an Asian peacefulness in her design. I own probably 10 pieces of her paintings, large & small. Vickie had probably 5 solo shows with us, one each year. She also participated in many group shows we hosted throughout the years.
