Meet Gbenro Ajibade

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gbenro Ajibade.

Hi Gbenro, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Started modeling from college back home in Nigeria, won a ‘Mr campus’ pageant (Benue state university) and on that stage, I realized I could model professionally, coupled with the spontaneous reaction I got from the crowd which ignited the passion. So after graduation, I started modeling professionally and from different auditions, shoots, fashion shows and Casting calls I landed my first acting gig TINSEL (shot about 4,000 episodes in a space of 12 years on the show) So depending on my schedule or the booking I still model (photography/fashion) Moved to New York 2015 then Atlanta Georgia 2018 (till date)featured in NYFW for the 3rd year in a row and still counting. Got a few movies on Netflix (DERE, Gbomogbomo express, ten days I. Suncity, Cather, Wages) Amazon prime (hip hop holiday)

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For modeling, the main challenge is to get your body right and stay shredded. It should always look ready for a shoot or fashion show. Regardless of your work, responsibilities or priorities, the body and mind have to stay ready. Like they say THE SHOW MUST GO ON! And trust me it will. With or without you

For acting up too asides getting your body right, you always have to be spontaneous and ready too but this time emotionally, physically, mentally and all that goes into series of CONSISTENT practice, research and exercising all these emotions so your in control when it comes to play. Also, you would need to invest in your craft and that would include training, acting classes, and all.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I do Shotokan Karate (Black belt). I love to cook.
