Today we’d like to introduce you to Herman Dowdy.
Herman, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up, I was the funniest kid and I had a lot of knowledge on music (all kinds, mostly Rap/R&B) and pop culture as well as sports. That followed me through the years and made me start an Instagram. People loved the content I was putting out. I was so diverse I was reaching more people than I ever knew. I’ve always listened to podcasts but Taxstone always stood out. I feel as though I relate to him on a personal level. I always agree with his opinions. Unfortunately, he was imprisoned in 2017, which left me with no podcast, forcing to make my own. Who can make the perfect content for you – besides you? With that being said, I had a slow start-up, continuing to doubt myself because I was holding my self to a high standard and didn’t want to disappoint. Until my Instagram followers basically BEGGED me to start one because they loved my wittiness, unfiltered opinions and my hidden talent of having some knowledge on EVERYTHING. And now we’re here. Only five episodes in and already at 10k followers.
Has it been a smooth road?
So far, it has been smooth but I know the road to success is not easy. The only thing I can say that has been hard for me is the self-doubt, I’m such a perfectionist and want everything to be how I imagine it. I also struggle with accepting the fact that people are genuinely showing love due to a large amount of fake love going around (you know how that go).
We’d love to hear more about your work.
My Podcast is the best-undiscovered show out right now in my opinion. It’s so diverse. Each episode is a new friend (guest), new vibes, new laughs and new information for the listener to learn. I specialize in making my guest feel comfortable and cool enough to talk about any subject and laugh about even the most serious topics. I’m known for my wild opinions and super hilarious content on Instagram and twitter, Some would say I’m a social media veteran. The biggest thing that I am proud of right is just actually pushing myself to keep doing this and consistently dropping new episodes weekly. I feel like what sets me apart from others is that I’m actually MADE for this and the listener can tell, most people do podcasts just to gossip or they see it as a quick check or an opportunity to get famous and I’m not like that. Podcasting is my niche, I’m a student of the game and I put a lot of thought and stress into making the perfect episode EACH week.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Atlanta is the perfect place for business for any anything, Atlanta has the spotlight right now, more than any other city (New York, Chicago, L.A, etc.) especially when everyone loves to give a helping hand. I would strongly recommend Atlanta for anyone starting out. There are so many opportunities and many companies willing to work; it seems like they’re someone new from the city every week. I would not improve anything for Atlanta. I love the seen exactly how it is now. Perfect for everyone, no matter the age, gender, or race.
