Meet Jack Bergstrand of Consequent

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Bergstrand.

Jack, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Consequent is a management consulting firm that helps companies and teams achieve cross-functional outcomes better and faster, and with less aggravation. The consulting firm was launched by Brand Velocity, which is a company that I founded in 2001 that worked with clients to operationalize a lot of Peter Drucker’s insights on knowledge-based organizations. What separates Consequent is that we have integrated everything that was learned at Brand Velocity to assist with large initiatives using small teams–integrating our expertise on cross-functional projects with the client’s industry and internal expertise.

Prior to launching Consequent, I was chief information officer of The Coca-Cola Company, chief financial officer and head of manufacturing and logistics at Coca-Beverages, and chief marketing officer at Coca-Cola New England. Educationally I have three master’s degrees: in executive leadership at George Washington, management at Stanford, and advertising at Michigan State. I am also the author of The Velocity Advantage and Reinvent Your Enterprise.

Has it been a smooth road?
Competing with large established consulting firms at the C-level of Fortune 500 companies is a bit of a David and Goliath scenario, but we have used every year to build our intellectual property, internal capabilities, and external relationships. With Consequent, everything learned at Brand Velocity, from struggles and successes, and from our clients over the past 15 years, establishes our foundation.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Consequent – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Consequent is a consulting firm that specializes in helping companies and teams implement cross-functional initiatives better and faster, and with less aggravation. The large majority of our work is with C-level executives in Fortune 500 companies. We help companies rapidly develop cross-functional strategies, collaboratively develop solutions and solve issues, and manage major cross-functional initiatives. We use fewer, more senior, consultants and use the intellectual property described in The Velocity Advantage, to help teams and companies collaboratively get on the same page and successfully head in a single direction.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Atlanta is a great place to live, and it is getting better all the time. Weather is good, people are wonderful, and the airport is world class. What I probably like least is really no worse than in other large cities I’ve lived, which is our traffic.
