Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Jamrozy.
Hi Jade, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
As a child, I was always playing with makeup and hairstyles. I would sit on the bathroom counter and try out all the crazy colors and looks. I was always inspired by fashion and nature, so my influences were drawn from either Vogue or Nat Geo. The grand debate for me was choosing between fashion or beauty. Eventually, I went with my instincts and off to hair school I went. I attended Paul Mitchell the School Esani and learned as much as I possibly could. Then I went on to work at a salon for two years where they provided continuing education. I would say that is where I learned a lot about cut and color, but being behind the chair did not fulfill me creatively. I was connected with a wonderful freelance hairstylist and makeup artist that took me under her wing and helped me get my start. In 2016 I took a leap of faith and quit the salon. I was hired on as an assistant for weddings, commercials, and commercial sets where I was able to gain some very valuable experience. Six years later, I am still a full-time freelance hairstylist and makeup artist. I currently work on weddings, commercial shoots, editorial fashion shoots, I provide private lessons and individual hair and makeup appointments.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Freelance by no means is an easy road. It is honestly a huge mental game. I have moments where I feel like I am unstoppable and other moments that I feel like I’m going to run off to start a plant nursery. It is an ebb and flow type of thing. I feel so grateful that I have my mentor who has been stabilizing and inspiring me the whole way. I also have so many beautiful friends in the industry that share the same highs and lows as any other small business owner. I have found comparison is never the route to go and really embracing who you are goes a long way.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a professional hairstylist and makeup artist that specializes in modern, minimal makeup and effortless hair. The goal is to always highlight my client’s natural beauty and make them feel the best in their own skin. I would say I’m best known for glowy skin and lived in hair. People are attracted to my work because I don’t make my clients look like anyone but themselves. It brings me all the joy in the world to see someone light up when they see their reflection. I feel like my style is a bit different especially for the south and especially in bridal. With my style being more minimal, it also reflects in the editorial and commercial side of my work. I am most proud of the business I have built and the relationships I have gained along the way.
What matters most to you? Why?
In the end, what matters most is being fulfilled in life. Life is way too short to be unhappy. I am super passionate about what I do and it genuinely makes me happy in so many ways. If there is something in your life not working, it is in your own power to change it.
