Today we’d like to introduce you to Jalon Dukes.
Hi Jalon, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I believe everyone is an artist in their own right, it just all comes down to what kind of art you’re meant to be producing. I started my journey as a music artist shortly after becoming a college drop out. My emotions were running high and I was overwhelmed with the thoughts of my next steps in life. I was feeling lost, confused and alone. I craved understanding, but didn’t care to communicate with just anyone. So I started writing down my thoughts and eventually made them into rhymes. This is how I became the artist that I am today. I needed a way to vent and get these thoughts out of my mind.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has not been easy, at all. In fact, it’s been the most difficult thing I’ve ever done. It’s multiple things that go into being an artist and the most important thing is, confidence. You have to believe every single word you’re saying. You have to say what you mean and mean what you say! It all comes down to knowing yourself and being truly authentic.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a music artist, that makes bops for the girls and guys to get lit to. I specialize in making you feel the most confident in the room! I’m known for being myself, being authentic, without having any cares in the world. The thing I’m most proud of is finding a hobby that i can express myself with. I don’t have to double think about the things I want to say and that’s because I’m truly being myself. This is what sets me apart from others, I’m 100% authentic and don’t feel the need to fake the funk to kick it with others.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I’ve learned to stay to myself and protect my energy. 6 feet please because I don’t need your aura knocking mine off. Keep your energy there and I’ll shine mine enough to heal yours.
