Meet Janel Howze of Diamond Effect by JNichole

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janel Howze.

Hi Janel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Diamond Effect by JNichole, LLC was brought to life in 2018. During this time I was working a full-time job. I didn’t have thousands of dollars or a lot of resources. I literally started my business with LESS than $250. I used what I had around me. I had a vision and I wasn’t going to let what I DIDN’T have stop me. I just wasn’t — Running a business while working a full-time job was very difficult, I’ll admit. I had to remind myself, “sometimes you must do what you HAVE to do until you can do what you WANT to do”. I made a lot of sacrifices while starting my business. I missed out on a lot of fun and cut out unnecessary spending. In the beginning stages of my business, I had no days off. I was working at my 9-5, 5 days a week and the two days I had off was dedicated to my business. It wasn’t easy but I knew it was going to take a lot of work to get my brand to where I wanted it to be. — Fast forward to August 2019 all my hard work paid off. I was finally in a space where I could go full-time with my business. I stepped out on FAITH & did just that! Was it scary? Definitely! Was it worth it? Most Definitely!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The process definitely hasn’t been smooth. I think the hardest thing was the sacrifices and the behind the scenes that no one saw. Everyone shows the glitz and glamor of business but what about what goes on in the background? Those late nights, early mornings, tears and etc. The days, weeks or months where you don’t have one sale but you have to keep pressing forward. That’s tough! You definitely have to have a strong mindset!

Another challenge was me becoming a mom! Trying to balance a full-time business while being a full-time mom hasn’t been easy. God definitely has given me the strength through it all!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a custom wig maker, wig instructor and business mentor. My passion for hair came from my mom who was a beautician. I grew up watching her do hair in the salon day in and day out. Anything related to hair was like second nature to me!

I create top-quality wigs on the sewing machine. I educate others on how to create wigs on the sewing machine as well. I have a mentorship program where I help new or existing businesses in areas where they lack. I also sell a top-tier hair product called The Ultimate Silk & Thermal Shield. It’s a lightweight, nongreasy heat protectant for all hair types.

My goal with my brand is to help women enhance the beauty they were ALREADY born with! I also use my brand/business to help inspire others in every way that I can. My brand means everything to me! I make sure each and everyday that I encourage and uplift my audience somehow and someway. I love to remind others that what I have is not just me alone, but God is the center of it ALL! He gave me the tools and the platform to bless others in every way that I can!

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
