Meet Jasmine Dix of Jassy’s Sweet Treats in Carrollton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Dix.

Jasmine, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started baking seven years ago. My very first cake which turned into my signature cake was my red velvet cheesecake. I seen a post on Facebook and thought that looks really good I’ll try to make it. I used my mom’s recipe for her red velvet cake and googled how to make the cheesecake once I finished I posted it on Facebook and it was a hit. I received orders here and there for it but Back then, baking wasn’t really my thing I just did it cause I knew I could. I would bake my red velvet cheesecakes during the holidays and sell them. Thanksgiving 2017 was when I knew baking was what I was supposed to be doing that holiday season was a big hit. At the time, I was working two jobs at pilot truck stop & a transportation driver being a mother of three at the time I had to do what was needed to provide for my family. December of that year is when I became passionate about my gift the feedback from family and friends was amazing, so I started investing in myself little by little. On January 18th, 2018 is when I knew it was now or never, so I stepped out on faith, quit my full-time job and did my part-time job full time. I took a major pay cut but I knew that God would provide. Doing my transportation job freed up a lot of my time during the day, so I was able to bake on my breaks an still make it back to work on time. It was then I stepped out on faith once more I told myself if I was gone do it I was gone do it right, so I got my LLC and became an official business fast forward a year later, I’m here more passionate than ever and ready to take it to the top.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
For the most part, it’s been pretty smooth. I’m self-taught, if I see something, I’ll try to duplicate it, Google and YouTube has been my best friends.  I would say my biggest struggle was being afraid to do tier cakes. I wouldn’t even try them for the longest was afraid they would fall and I would be ruined until a few months ago, I got the courage and did my first 3 tier cake it was awesome. I was so proud, I still fear it every time I make one but I’ve learned I just have to trust the process.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Jassy’s Sweet Treats – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
My business is Jassy’s Sweet Treats, LLC. I specialize in cakes of all kind, pies, puddings, & sweet treats. I’m known for my red velvet cheesecakes. I’m proud cause this is mine something that I created. Im investing and branding myself. I’m putting my blood, sweat, and tears into trying to be better than I was the day before because I love hearing my cakes are bomb,  moist, and just so good.
