Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Smith.
Urban Dashiki Jackets started back in October 2016 in Savannah, Ga. The idea came to owner Jason SAINTJULIEN Smith in Baltimore, MD while working his regular job. Wanting to do a tribal photoshoot of him and his girls, Jason couldn’t bear the fact of wearing a tribal dashiki. Imagining a more streetwear approach to the tribal African Dashiki the jacket was created. Reaching out to a local designer in Savannah Ga, the custom made jacket was now tangible and able to wear. After posting the photoshoot on Facebook, the jacket grabbed local and worldwide attention causing Jason into the fashion world.
Moving forward of having to capitalize and move quickly, Urban Dashiki Jackets was born. SAINTJULIEN (which is his designer name) and another designer penetrated the fashion industry selling these custom made jackets to all different clients (local, celebrities, and foreigners).
Today’s business is now based on our e-commerce online service.
Has it been a smooth road?
Urban Dashiki Jackets has had its shares of obstacles in its three years of business. Being a self-funded business, Saint Julien has dealt with forms of homeless, sacrificing a lot of personal things. From others not contributing 100% of their work ethics. Even to other business partners sabotaging the vision. But Urban Dashiki Jackets still remains grounded in its foundation.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Urban Dashiki Jackets – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Atlanta as it brings more awareness to our heritage/culture. Atlanta has shown me that anything is possible in the process as we see Tyler Perry’s tremendous success unravel before our eyes. I have no dislike about the great city of Atlanta.
