Meet Jelisa Raquel of Media Girls Network in Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jelisa Raquel.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jelisa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My journey began after graduating from college. I started an internship at one of Atlanta’s hottest radio stations working under a major talent. This internship opened my eyes to the entertainment and media industry. I began freelancing, interning, and learning the ropes to becoming an amazing journalist in the entertainment field. I’ve had the opportunity to work with Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, with countless appearances on local shows such as “T.I. Family Hustle”, “Real Housewives of Atlanta”, plus many more! I’ve built my entertainment journalism brand through hard work and consistency. I’ve covered countless red carpet premieres, attended exclusive activations, and interviewed backstage and several prominent concerts. After leaving my internship, I had gained enough knowledge, experience, and contacts to launch my own brands.

The birth of Broadcasting Beauty PR & my personal blog awakened several other amazing talents within myself. I began working with the hottest beauty entrepreneurs, lifestyle businesses, and entertainment brands to further showcase my talent on both the publicity and media industries. After successfully running my business, the opportunity for me to work with Sheen Magazine arose. Since working with Sheen Magazine, I’ve helped the brand expand expeditiously, especially in the Atlanta market by conducting well over 100 celebrity interviews, landing major cover stories, and continuing to push the brand forward by dominating the red carpet. I established my name and brand well enough to rebrand and birth my own networking platform, “Media Girls Network Inc.”

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve overcome financial issues, faced many ups and downs through learning the industry. I’ve previously had my business jeopardized and still was able to rebrand and level up past the mistakes. Running a business is very hard, considering you’re wearing multiple hats. The biggest issue has been team building or building with like-minded people who you can trust with your visions and ideas.

Winning the “Ms. Northgate” pageant in high school, being embraced by an advanced queen, gaining a coach, and building my self-esteem to continue to compete for the years to come. My favorite pastime is competing in pageants and cheerleading!
