Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Hanley.
Hi Jenna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Recently, I found a journal I used in elementary school that had a prompt in it that read “What is your dream occupation?” and I filled the blank next to it with the word “nothing”. Going into high school, going into college, and graduating college, I could never put my finger on what exactly I wanted to do. And I don’t think I ever will. But as long as I can be creative, I know I’ll be happy.
I graduated from Georgia College & State University in May 2023 with a BA in Mass Communication. As a first-generation college grad, this is the greatest thing I have ever accomplished. As I said, I had no idea where I was going from there. I started an internship soon after I graduated working in the marketing department of a large corporation.
After a few months there, I was super grateful for everything I had learned and experienced but knew that accepting a full-time position there was not in the cards for me. While earning my degree, I never could have imagined that I would be starting my own business a few months out of college. The world was my oyster and I took advantage of that. My dad has been an entrepreneur almost my entire life and always encouraged me to do so as well.
The big question was, what should my business be? So much opportunity for one indecisive 23-year-old! I received my business license in October 2023 and have been building this company from the ground up since. I stuck to what I knew and started Divine Design Artful Co. which is, for now, a one-woman marketing agency!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing is ever a smooth road. I realized the second I moved away from home for college that the only way to face challenges is to go through them, not around them. Facing challenges head-on and immediately is something that never came naturally to me before starting my business.
I have always had anxiety and it has held me back from more things than I can count in my life, but it didn’t hold me back from my dream of becoming an entrepreneur. My biggest challenge now is trial and error as a business owner. Now that I can officially call myself an entrepreneur, the next step is to be able to call myself a successful entrepreneur. And I am so confident that I am well on my way!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Divine Design, our specialty is multimedia meaning our goal is to help you reach all members of your target audience online no matter which type of content they prefer to consume. Our services include social media management, social media advertising, content creation, web design, branding (logos, colors, typography), and copywriting.
What sets us apart from other agencies is we do not want to make it obvious that we have swooped in and changed your entire brand. We want to get to know you and keep the values you built your company on at the heart of our partnership. When it comes to web design, we use website builders and handpick which one to use depending on your needs, your industry, price range, the look you’re going for, etc.
We really get to know our client’s styles before jumping into designing anything for them. We are very keen on designing and creating for your benefit, not for ours. A love for photography, videography, and designing is what this company is built off. Making others feel good about themselves when seeing an amazing photo of themselves or seeing a design that was exactly what they were envisioning is what makes me proud to do what I do.
I am proud of myself for sticking to my creative, loud, colorful roots when building my business despite minimalistic branding being what everyone goes for today. My branding is very playful, girly, and fun, but in no way does that reflect my client’s work. Our slogan is: your business is great, we’re the cherry on top. Separate the art from the artist!
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I loved growing up near Atlanta. Although I have never lived in ITP, visiting on the weekends has always been my favorite thing to do. Moving into the city is definitely on my to-do list in the next couple of years. I love the community, the beltline, the food, the opportunity, and most of all little five points. My least favorite thing is the traffic, the horrendous traffic.
