Meet Jordan German of Salon J.G. in Brookhaven

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan German.

Jordan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I graduated from the Esani Institute-A Paul Mitchell Partner School in 2010. From there, I got a job as an assistant at a high-end salon in Alpharetta. GA. With the education and skill I acquired here, I was able to build a decent sized clientele. I had always wanted to go into business for myself, but the thought of opening my own salon was scary. I stumbled upon Salon Lofts one day- a place stylist can go and have their own space-All inside a large building with other salons. This was perfect for me, and I signed a contract just 6 hours later. So far, this has been the best move of my career. I have my own salon, a fantastic clientele that really appreciates me, and Independence like you wouldn’t believe. I love making people look and feel great, at the same time getting to know my clients one by one, on a more personal level. To me, I have THE BEST job in the world.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Some of my struggles along the way we’re mostly in the start- and that was my FEAR. The fear of failing. The fear of not being able to pay my overhead. I mean, everyone has those fears, right? But my fear got to me a little too much and I had no choice but to let it go. When I quit being fearful, I truly did accomplish more. Clients were returning more, and more money was flowing in.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Salon J.G. story. Tell us more about the business.
My salon is located inside SalonLofts in Brookhaven. I do A LOT of color. It kind of just happened this way, but I love it. I love being creative with color and I love the fact that my clients can tell me to do whatever I want, and they know I will create a look for them that is cohesive with their professional and personal lifestyle. I’m definitely not one to color your hair blue, just because you told me to do whatever I wanted. I offer cold beverages, as well as hot coffee and tea to enjoy while your being serviced in my chair.
