Today we’d like to introduce you to Kandie Martin.
Kandie Martin is a native of Athens, GA and moved to Atlanta, GA in 1997 to seek better opportunities for her family. On a dare, she found a modeling agency in Creative Loafing and after getting signed and her comp card created, she walked several shows at the World Congress Center in Atlanta. She decided to put her modeling career on hold to continue raising her three children. She then was blessed to get into the Information Technology field and for over 20 years, she worked in all levels starting out in the tape library and has supported customers in all levels from mainframe operations to SSL Certificate management. She started her first business in 2009 based off of her poetry, her poems were published in a few books created by the Library of Congress and Poems by Kandie was born, the gift basket company serviced all parts of Georgia and with her forever learning mindset the company was reinvented into a personal assistant company.
During a conversation at one of her client’s facilities, her client Nellie Ward stated, “all of that stuff there I just leave it to Kandie”. Poems by Kandie then became Leave It To Kandie, LLC. Kandie has created all types of merchandise, paperwork, websites, business cards, banners and the list goes on. As fate would have it, she was pulled back into the entertainment industry and created Thirsty Thursday ‘s at these events she featured all types of artists and booked many local comedians, rappers and RnB groups. After booking Sunshine Anderson, Kandie was pulled into helping others create the same type of events and eventually managing several local actors, singers and comedians. Her company Kandie Promotions, has produced seven radio shows and is co-producer in two films, Trans-Me and Practice What You Preach, in which she is also one of the main actors in the film that was created by SimGriggs Production. In 2019, her Corporate Life ended, and she created her first all-male fashion show and not only was the Eye Kandie Fashion Review born, so was the Eye Kandie Fashion Explosion.
In 2019 she also launched her magazine Entertainers Corner as well as her modeling agency Eye Kandie Modeling Agency. She started concentrating on the social media management portion of her company and now, with the rebrand almost completed, Kandie Enterprises is being birthed and all her companies are now under one roof, becoming departments within Kandie Enterprises. She not only manages people, social media and coaches business owners to their next level. She has been featured in several magazines, nominated for Atl’s Hottest Manager and is the winner of 2019 Urban CEO Network’s Talent CEO of the Year award. Kandie is a mother of three children, a serial entrepreneur, published poet, coauthor of Wake Up Winning, Urban CEO Market Leader of the Atlanta Market and Vice President of Urban CEO Network.
Has it been a smooth road?
Struggles have been everywhere to include going from a full-time employee with benefits to full-time entrepreneur. Learning how to price my packages and learning to say no when I really just want to help. Learning that my time, knowledge and skills are all worth money. Also, learning that everyone is not your client and that you cannot help people that always makeup excuses. All of these things have helped me to becoming a better person overall.
We’d love to hear more about Kandie Enterprises.
I am a media marketing specialist and have multiple companies. I am know for social media management. I help small business owners to implement a schedule of consistency on social media. Which allows them to focus on their business while I focus on making sure they have a social media presence. I am proud that I was able to take something that I only did as a hobby into the main source of income for my business in less than a year. What sets me apart from other companies is that I work with my clients to create their social media presence as well as take the worry of “did I post today” off of their shoulders. I also help them with making their websites, lead pages, logos and so much more.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
For social media, Atlanta is a great place to be. There are thousands of businesses that need help!
