Meet Kantii of East Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kantii.

Hi Kantii, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Well… I’ve been in chorus since elementary school, I auditioned for leads, didn’t get them. I’ve done talent shows, didn’t win them. I’ve been in multiple singing groups that taught me valuable lessons… I decided to take my music career seriously right after high school. I decided to join “Playlist Academy” which was an artist development program. I learned a lot during that time, and a great mentor of mine “Matty P” would help me get gigs with local celebrities, and tell me what I could do better as an artist. I went on tour with Playlist and Scotty ATL. I made solid connections , where I ended up performing on “Cadillac Chronicles”. I did the group thing a few more times, and they all ended up the same, good music, but bad connection. So I came to the conclusion that I’m better as just KANTII, and I had to use discernment with collaborations. Follow Me ATL found me.. I begin performing with a live band. My vocals and stage presence elevated. My ticket sales were enough to help me invest in myself. Now I have labels asking to sign me and work with me… But again, using discernment.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been hard… All of my group collaborations, I loved immensely. But, those things don’t always last. I also make it harder cause I want to be better. A better vocalist, a better performer, a better supporter. I’m never satisfied with myself. But I’ve learned to be present and appreciate the process.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a singer and a musician. I play piano. My song “Tiddies” is a timeless record. Even though my artistry has greatly improved since then, my supporters still love it. I’m mostly proud for not quitting… I don’t care how many no’s or set backs I’ve had. I always keep going. I pray and protect my artistry. I aim to being the best I could be, working out, practicing my singing through my inspirations, and staying up late nights to record.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I’m pretty wild. I love interacting with the crowd. I get “ it’s your aura” a lot and I’m still learning about what they mean by that…. But I am also very humble. I don’t feel the need to take the spotlight. I just feel a strong urge to express myself freely. It’s never about competing with another artist. It’s about resonating, connection, expression, understanding, active listening and comprehension for me.
