Meet Kayla Moore of Dynamic Dance Academy in Morrow

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Moore.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kayla. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Dynamic Dance Academy, home of THEE Dynamic Pearls of Atlanta was established on September 10, 2016. I moved to Atlanta with a dream of bringing traditional HBCU majorette and technical dance to the heart of Atlanta. When I had my first tryout for my team, I did not have one single person attend. I was devastated and immediately wanted to move back home to Nashville, but my parents would not let me give up on my dream. I prayed about it and went hard with promoting myself and my new brand. About two weeks later, I held another tryout and had 4 girls show up it wasn’t much, but I was still honored those parents decided to give me a chance. For about three months, those four dancers were all I had and it became discouraging, but I continued to follow my passion and most importantly, I could not let my current dancers down by giving up on my self and them. January of 2017 things took a change I started to double and triple my enrollments. Each month, my team was growing at a rate, I could not believe.

Now, three years later, I have 107 dancers who look up to me and call me Coach Kay. As well as a 5,000sqft building where I am now able to not only have a Majorette dance team but to also offer weekly studio classes to rising young dancers. I never imagined accomplishing this so fast. With the help of friends, family, my dancers, my dance parents, my amazing coaching staff, and most importantly GOD I would have not been able to turn my dream into a reality. Here at Dynamic Dance Academy, we are focused on helping young girls and boys increase self-esteem and exude confidence through the art of dance.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I believe the best success stories are those who struggled along the way. I definitely had many struggles, but I am thankful because it gave me knowledge and a different type of strength I did not have at first. My struggles included starting off with low enrollment rates, figuring out the business world, and the hassle of finding the perfect buildings for my studio (in the three years of being open I ave moved five times). One struggle that impacted me a lot was learning the hard way that I can not please everyone and always know your worth. I have had dancers come and go which would truly hurt me due to the bond that was created, but I definitely learned those who care for me are for me and if they aren’t they will eliminate themselves. I appreciate the struggles and challenges I have endured along the way because they have made me into the businesswoman I am today. I definitely found myself through my struggles.

At Dynamic Dance Academy, we are known for our Competitive Hip Hop Majorette Dance Team, Dynamic Pearls of Atlanta. Starting September 7, 2019, we will begin to offer weekly non-competitive classes young dancers:

Pearl Tots (Ages 2-5)
-Technique
-Tumbling

Non-Competitive Weekly Classes (Ages 6-18)
-Baton
-Tumbling Level I & II
-Technique
-Beginner Majorette

Competitive Team
Hip Hop Majorette
-Akoya Pearls (Ages 5-9)
-Tahitian Pearls (Ages 9-12)
-Keshi Pearls (Ages 13-18)

What I am most proud of as a company and what sets us apart from others is that we are a FAMILY first and Dance follows. I want every dancer to be comfortable when they step foot in the studio which is why I strive to always make the studio feel family orientated.

I believe success is defined by you being able to make it past your struggles and still pursuing your passion. As long as I know I have touched the lives of my dancers, I have all the success I need.
