Meet Keenan Kivenchy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keenan Kivenchy.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Keenan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I began photography when I had to purchase my camera in my film production class at Central State University. After I put my skills to use, the reaction of my peers made want to take photography serious. I moved to Atlanta after I graduated and began to work with street brands, local artists and even high profile artists at the time. I met hip hop photographer Cam Kirk and we built a relationship which led me to manage Cam Kirk Studios today. My photography work grew by networking more and I reached a lot of people when QC’s artist at the *time* OG Maco hired me to photograph him at 2015 SXSW. Ever since then I haven’t looked back and I have worked with numerous of artists and brands.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No road is smooth. Life is a roller coaster. One of my main struggles was my expectations of being in a corporate setting. I thought once I got here to Atlanta, jobs that I applied for I be the perfect fit. Every job I applied for, I still have “we regret to inform you” emails favorited for motivation. There were days where I wanted to quit but I still continue to pursue my dream of being the photographer who I am now.

Please tell us about Kivenchy.
I have my hand in a few things. Everybody knows my face from being one of the managers at Cam Kirk Studios. I also am the merchandising photographer for our company brand BlaCk OWned Outerwear based in Cincinnati, Ohio. I have pushed the brand here in Atlanta for about four years by receiving attention from my close peers and the citizens of Atlanta for our bold name. I recently just started a lifestyle service title FridaysareforFriends which was started by promoting positivity of friends through Instagram. Each Friday, I would post my friends from film photos that took in times that we had the most fun. All companies are my babies, I love them the all the same. What I believe sets me apart from others is my positive energy, my charisma, and extroverted personality. I love my life and others who have been placed in my life. They make me the person who wakes up happy everyday.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would never start over. Everything is perfect!
