Today we’d like to introduce you to Ken Henry.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from Tuskegee University. I moved to Atlanta in 2013 to advance my career in this field. Music is and has always been a love/passion of mines and I’ve always wanted to be a part of the culture. While brainstorming ways to expand and add value to myself, I came across an ad for Scratch DJ Academy downtown. I clicked the ad, browsed around the site, went to the next scheduled open house, and the rest was history. I used money from my day job to purchase the training and equipment needed to practice at home. I got after it daily getting better and studying others in my professional that I thought was great. Once I felt like I had enough practice runs and knowledge to be successful, I started a mobile DJ company that has expanded throughout the years to one of the top used and rated mobile brands in the city or Atlanta and surrounding areas. ProTools Entertainment services weddings, corporate events, private parties, among others providing sound, lighting, MC service, Fog, and other items conducive to a successful event visually and musically.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road to the point I am now definitely hasn’t been smooth. One of the main struggles initially is the process of making your brand known. To make your name and brand known in this profession, you need jobs. Of course, like with any job, the less experience you have, the harder it is to land the job. So I had to do events for little to no profit while continuously having to purchase the equipment needed for the events in order to show that I have what it takes to be successful. Also going through the process of mastering your craft haves it ups and downs that you have to learn from on the job and correct for future success. Atlanta also is a crowded market so you have to find ways to distance yourself and your brand from the competition by showing potential customers that if you have the best product which is a process that takes some time and mastering as well.

My business is a mobile entertainment company. ProTools entertainment offers pretty much anything needed to make you event a success in regards to visual and sound quality while ensuring every member of the event is engaged and having a great time. In regards to visuals, we provide lighting that ranges from up lighting, strobe lights, party lights, etc. We also provide a professional DJ booth setup that fits effortlessly with any decor or setup at events. Speaking on sound, ProTools provides professional speakers and subwoofers that can fill any venue large or small. Microphones are also provided as needed. Additional add-ons such as fog machines, wash lights, karaoke, and MC services are also available at the customer’s discretion.

The high skill level and customer service provided by ProTools are the main assets that set this company apart from the others. The DJ is guaranteed to be set up and ready to go well before the event begins and has the ability to get pretty much ANY Crowd going once the event has started. We also work hand in hand with customers from the time a deposit is placed until the end of the event to ensure 100% satisfactory. The #1 goal is customer satisfaction.

A con for the city is rush hour traffic. (not so much)
