Meet Kenny Mulfort of Last 2 Standing in Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenny Mulfort.

Kenny, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I grew up in South Florida as a child of Haitian immigrants. Early on, I learned to be humble but dedicated to my passion. Upon graduating from the University of Florida in 2009, I went on to work in the media business as a New director. However, in 2015, I transitioned to the information technology field. Even while working In the field of technology, where there’s very little room for being creative, my mind would somehow continue to explore the idea of creativity in some form of manner. From writing stage plays, screenplays, and finishing my first novel… to writing and filming my own web series.

One day while having a good time with friends, the conception of a game that would turn out to be crazy, sexy, fun, racy, thought-provoking, and hilarious occurred. At this house gathering, a group of men and women were playing Taboo, and as they coming to an end… I asked a simple question that started a crazy and stimulating conversation. From there, we had a great time talking about men, women, and dating on a whole new level. I was the moderator, so I would allow the women, collectively, to ask men questions that they been dying to know. Once the discussion was over, I would then let the men, as a group, come up with a question to ask the ladies. It was a great time. Then it hit me, this should be a normal occurrence where men and women could openly talk about anything while having a great time. With that been said, I created a game that would not only allow men and women to have a good time discussing all sorts of questions but could also help find love while doing so. That is what LAST 2 STANDING is. A great game that reveals truth while making a possible match.

After that night, I went home and came up with the rules, concepts, and designs for the game. Following that, I constructed my first copy of the game at a local FedEx copy & print store. I took that model and took it all around the country, hosting focus groups to get a feel for what others might think of the game. Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, Charlotte, Washington D.C, Denver, Dallas, Los Angeles, Houston. From all of my traveling and hosting of the game, everyone loved it, so I realized it was time to go full throttle with the production of the game. As of today, I have sold over 1500 copies of the game and now working on a digital version of the game. To this date, Last 2 Standing is the only Matchmaking card game there is.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Along the way there have been many obstacles from mental to physical ones. There were several times where I just didn’t think this would be a product that would be worth me investing my time. Additionally, I simply thought I was over my head. There are physical obstacles such as funds and marketing that I ran into. I struggled with trying to find the best way to get this game in the hands of the people, trying to make others fall in love with it as much as I do. I spent a lot of money trusting companies to help me achieve that, but a couple of them turned out to be a waste of time. Although it was a struggle, I began to do what works best for me. Attending conventions, festivals, and serving as a vendor was one of my tactics. Also, finding a way to collaborate with other entrepreneurs helped as well.

Then, there’s the whole funding for the production part that turned out to be somewhat of an obstacle. Once I kicked off, I knew I had to have the funds and did whatever it took make sure it happens, but sometimes that was not enough. During the production, the manufacturing company nearly stopped producing because I did not have enough money to keep it going. I was nearly about to lose over $23000 had it not been for the last-minute save from my community. The people who believed in my dreams and wanted to see me succeed. That was a challenged that really pushed me over the top for wanting this product to make a push.

We’d love to hear more about Last 2 Standing.
Last 2 standing started as a matchmaking board game and now also providing online matchmaking service digitally through a game. I carry the only matchmaking board game on the market, and with this new venture of ours, we will be the only matchmaking service played through a game offered on social media.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The quality that I feel is most essential is the elimination of fear. Many people don’t lack to achieve success because of funds, ideas, or hard work… they do so because of fear. Fear that they might not match up to others. Fear of failure. Fear that it will not go well. Fear that people may judge them. Fear that they may lose money. Fear that they will waste time. Fear, fear, fear. I have no fear whatsoever when it comes to pursuing my goals and in my attempt to achieve success.
