Meet Kia Sain of Studio Lash Bar in Gwinnett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kia Sain.

Kia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I always worked on corporate customer service jobs. Back in 2010, I worked in purchasing & project management for a large manufacturing company. I knew I was good at something but still felt something was missing. I always loved the fashion/beauty industry. After three years on this job, I still followed my passion & soon opened my online clothing boutique. After feeling unappreciated and overworked in the corporate industry, September 2013, I made the decision to part ways with my full time job. All I had was $3000… I decided to put my all into this website. Eventually, word spread and I was making local meet ups to deliver items. The demand was so high that I soon rented a small office space for my customers to come pick up.

I was so busy that I barely had time for myself. Hair, nails and lashes are a must for me. My lash tech at the time could not accommodate me till late in the day, so I decided to improvise. I started experimenting applying my own lashes while at the shop. Customers would often ask me who did my lashes… once they knew I did them, they would often ask me to apply theirs. After months of friends and family, I finally decided to try..

I took five friends and did all of their lashes. The response and feedback was better than I thought. For another two years, I still ran the boutique & lashes. The demand for lashes was so high that I soon made that my priority. I named the lash company Studio Lash Bar. I received my esthetician license in 2018.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. Lol. I had my first child at 18… being a single mom and dealing with obstacles that come with being young having priorities that keep you from genuinely finding out who you are as a person. Working for employers that didn’t appreciate the many good things that you have done for the company. In 2016, my father, one of my biggest supporters since day one, suddenly passed. Probably the worst thing that has ever happen to me. Even though he is gone, he has been here in spirit still watching after me. I’ve been highly blessed ever since.

Please tell us about Studio Lash Bar.
Studio Lash Bar is a place where all the ladies can come in and leave out feeling better than they did when they walked in! It feels like home for my clients. We laugh, vent, cry and laugh again.

I’m a licensed esthetician specializing in lash extensions.
I also offer lash classes for beginner and experienced lash techs.

Besides the clothing boutique that I had, Im primarily known for lashes.
What sets me apart from everyone else… I hustle harder, I eat, sleep & live for the hustle. I love to take 2.00 and turn it into 50.00 in 20 min. I’m willing to jump off the porch and put my fears aside just to add another service, another hustle under my belt.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My dad throwing basement house parties in the late ’80s, early ’90s & him cooking out for the neighborhood.
