Meet Kirby OnSet of Metro Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kirby OnSet.

Kirby, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m a Southern girl at heart—born and raised in Atlanta, and proudly half Nigerian. My story starts with an early love for creativity and structure. I’ve always been the kind of person who can organize chaos, find solutions, and still make people laugh along the way. That mix led me to a 14-year career in corporate America, where I built deep expertise in customer success, operations, data analytics, and helpdesk support across companies like Chick-fil-A, AT&T, Apple, LexisNexis, and Microsoft Xbox.

While I was thriving in those spaces, my creative community kept calling. I’d find myself helping friends streamline their shoots, plan productions, manage their podcasts—you name it. Eventually, I realized I could bring the same precision, care, and strategy I used in the corporate world to creatives who are often overwhelmed by the back-end work that keeps their vision alive.

So in 2024, I launched my creative operations business. I provide personal and executive assistant services, production assistant support—including Key PA talent—and specialize in helping creatives stay in flow by clearing the operational clutter. Whether it’s a photoshoot, podcast, film set, or live event, I show up ready to help you execute without burnout. I don’t need it to be perfect, but it must be right.

Since launching, I’ve worked with some incredible clients like Tea Time with Uncle Twerl, Click Pop Studio, Damn Write Originals, KeyTV Productions, Black Knight Creative Co, JRycheal Photography, Butter ATL, 404 Day Atlanta, Oysterfest Atlanta, and my own podcast, Extra Crispy Extra Wet. My role is always the same: clear a path so you can focus on what you do best—create.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not a straight shot—and I wouldn’t have it any other way. There’s beauty in the bumps.

Starting a business, especially one that lives at the intersection of creativity and logistics, comes with challenges. One of the biggest early struggles was helping people understand what exactly I do. I’m not just a PA, or just an admin, or just a fixer—I’m a partner in execution. I had to find language that helped clients see the value in having someone who can help them prioritize, delegate, and actually finish what they start.

I also had to unlearn some of the over-functioning habits I picked up in corporate. In those spaces, I often worked twice as hard to be seen—and I brought that intensity into entrepreneurship. It helped me build something solid, but I had to learn how to pace myself, protect my energy, and remember: I’m not here to prove, I’m here to serve.

Of course, there were also the usual small biz hiccups—systems not system-ing, undercharging, overdelivering, tech fails mid-project—but every misstep taught me how to refine, recalibrate, and keep going. I remind myself often: progress over perfection—but the work must be right.

And as a Black woman in this space, especially in Atlanta, I carry both the joy and the weight of being underestimated and overbooked. But I’ve built my business on grace, excellence, and genuine care, and that’s what keeps clients coming back.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At its core, my work is about removing friction so creatives can do what they do best—create. I run a creative operations business where I support photographers, directors, filmmakers, podcasters, production companies, and other multi-hyphenates by handling the admin, logistics, and behind-the-scenes execution that keeps their work moving.

That includes personal and executive assistant services, production assistant support (including providing reliable, talented key PA teams), and helping clients think through and set up systems that actually work for their creative process—not against it. I’m known for being the person you call when things feel chaotic or overwhelming, and you just need someone to get in there, get it organized, and get it done—without disrupting the vibe.

What sets me apart is my consultative approach. I don’t just take tasks and run. I help clients talk through their vision, ask the right questions, and get clarity on what’s essential. Then I move fast and make it happen. My background in customer success, analytics, operations, and helpdesk support means I see patterns, build infrastructure, and solve problems quickly—and with heart.

I’m most proud of the trust my clients place in me. Whether it’s working with a podcast host who’s juggling guests and edits, or a film crew needing calm and consistency on set, I show up ready, present, and intentional. I bring joy, flexibility, and a “don’t worry, I got it” energy into every room.

And honestly? I love watching people light up when they realize they don’t have to do it all alone. That moment of relief? That’s what I live for.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Kindness—with a side of precision.

Kindness is my foundation. It’s how I was raised, it’s how I lead, and it’s how I serve. In my work, kindness shows up as patience, clarity, consistency, and respect for the people and the process. It helps me build trust quickly, which is essential when you’re stepping into someone else’s creative world and handling the details they’ve been carrying alone.

But I pair that kindness with a high standard for execution. I say it all the time: I don’t need it to be perfect, but it must be right. I’m not just here to be helpful—I’m here to make sure it gets done the right way, the first time. That mix of care and competence is what keeps my clients coming back. They know I’ll hold it down and hold it with heart.
