Meet Kouamé Beressou Michel (Mike) of La Minute Gospel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kouamé Beressou Michel (Mike).

Hi Kouamé, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey is driven first and foremost by a passion: using media to highlight the people who impact society, particularly the gospel scene.

I started with La Minute Gospel, a media outlet dedicated to urban gospel news in Ivory Coast and beyond. Initially, the goal was simple: to give visibility to the artists, initiatives, and key players in a scene that often receives little media attention. Over time, this project has become a true platform for information, interviews, and the promotion of gospel culture.

In parallel, I developed other initiatives, notably the LMG Ivoire Awards, a ceremony designed to celebrate and recognize key figures in Ivorian urban gospel. This initiative stemmed from a simple observation: those who use their talent to convey positive values and the Gospel also deserve to be recognized and honored.

My journey has been marked by numerous challenges, including a lack of resources and the need to balance these projects with my professional activities. But these challenges taught me perseverance, innovation, and the importance of working with a clear vision.

Today, my ambition is to continue professionalizing these initiatives, creating opportunities for emerging talent, and contributing to the development of a more structured and recognized gospel music industry in Africa.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey hasn’t always been easy. Like many passion-driven initiatives, we’ve faced several challenges, including a lack of financial resources, the difficulty of building a stable team, and the challenge of balancing these projects with our professional and personal lives.

In the urban gospel scene, another challenge has been the lack of visibility and recognition for certain talents. We’ve sometimes had to convince people of the relevance of our initiatives and demonstrate that a media outlet or event dedicated to gospel music can have a real cultural and social impact.

There have also been moments of fatigue and self-doubt. Managing a media outlet, organizing events, and maintaining a long-term vision requires a lot of energy and perseverance. But these difficulties have allowed us to learn, adapt, and grow.

Today, each obstacle overcome strengthens our conviction: talents who convey positive messages deserve to be valued, and we want to continue creating platforms that give them the visibility they deserve.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
La Minute Gospel is a Christian media platform dedicated to promoting urban gospel culture and the people behind it. Our mission is to inform, inspire, and shine a light on artists and creatives who use their gifts to spread positive values and the Gospel.

Through our digital platforms, we cover gospel news, conduct interviews, create original content, and provide spaces for meaningful conversations about faith, culture, and creativity. We have also launched initiatives such as the LMG Ivoire Awards, an award ceremony created to celebrate and recognize the key players in Côte d’Ivoire’s urban gospel scene.

What sets us apart is our commitment to authentic storytelling and our desire to give visibility to talents and initiatives that are often overlooked by mainstream media. We do more than report on events—we actively contribute to the growth and structuring of the gospel ecosystem in Africa.

Our specialty lies in connecting faith, media, and culture in a way that resonates with today’s generation. Over the years, we have built a reputation based on passion, consistency, and a genuine commitment to uplifting gospel voices.

One of the things we are most proud of is creating a platform that empowers artists and inspires the next generation of Christian creatives. Seeing talents gain exposure and new opportunities through our work is incredibly rewarding.

If there is one thing readers should remember about La Minute Gospel, it is that we believe faith and creativity have the power to transform lives. Our vision is to build bridges between gospel, media, and culture so that meaningful voices can be seen, heard, and celebrated.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
If I had to choose one quality that has been most important to my journey, it would be consistency.

There have been many moments when I wanted to give up. Building projects in media and the gospel space comes with challenges, setbacks, and seasons of uncertainty. At times, it felt easier to stop than to keep going.

However, I have been blessed to have people around me who encouraged me, believed in me, and helped me lift my head during difficult moments. Their support reminded me of the vision and purpose behind what I do.

I have learned that success is not always about having the most resources or the perfect conditions—it is often about showing up consistently, staying faithful to your mission, and continuing to move forward even when progress seems slow.

Looking back, I believe that consistency, combined with faith and the support of others, has been one of the greatest reasons I am where I am today.
